Zechariah 10

The Lord Will Care for Judah

1 Ask the Lord for rain in the springtime;

it is the Lord who sends the thunderstorms.

He gives showers of rain to all people,

and plants of the field to everyone.

2 The idols speak deceitfully,

diviners see visions that lie;

they tell dreams that are false,

they give comfort in vain.

Therefore the people wander like sheep

oppressed for lack of a shepherd.

3 "My anger burns against the shepherds,

and I will punish the leaders;

for the Lord Almighty will care

for his flock, the people of Judah,

and make them like a proud horse in battle.

4 From Judah will come the cornerstone,

from him the tent peg,

from him the battle bow,

from him every ruler.

5 Together they*10:4,5 Or ruler, all of them together. / 5 They will be like warriors in battle

trampling their enemy into the mud of the streets.

They will fight because the Lord is with them,

and they will put the enemy horsemen to shame.

6 "I will strengthen Judah

and save the tribes of Joseph.

I will restore them

because I have compassion on them.

They will be as though

I had not rejected them,

for I am the Lord their God

and I will answer them.

7 The Ephraimites will become like warriors,

and their hearts will be glad as with wine.

Their children will see it and be joyful;

their hearts will rejoice in the Lord.

8 I will signal for them

and gather them in.

Surely I will redeem them;

they will be as numerous as before.

9 Though I scatter them among the peoples,

yet in distant lands they will remember me.

They and their children will survive,

and they will return.

10 I will bring them back from Egypt

and gather them from Assyria.

I will bring them to Gilead and Lebanon,

and there will not be room enough for them.

11 They will pass through the sea of trouble;

the surging sea will be subdued

and all the depths of the Nile will dry up.

Assyria’s pride will be brought down

and Egypt’s scepter will pass away.

12 I will strengthen them in the Lord

and in his name they will live securely,"

declares the Lord.

O cuidado do Senhor por Judá

1 Peça ao Senhor chuva de primavera;

é o Senhor quem faz os trovões,

quem envia a chuva aos homens

e lhes dá as plantas do campo.

2 Porque os ídolos falam maldades,

os adivinhadores têm falsas visões

e contam sonhos enganadores;

o consolo que trazem é vão.

Por isso, o povo vagueia como ovelhas

aflitas pela falta de um pastor.

3 "A minha ira se acende contra os pastores,

e eu agirei contra os líderes.

Porque o Senhor dos Exércitos

cuidará do seu rebanho, o povo de Judá,

e fará dele o seu vigoroso cavalo de guerra.

4 Dele virão a pedra fundamental

e a estaca da tenda,

o arco da batalha

e os governantes.

5 Juntos serão*10.4,5 Ou governará, todos eles juntos. 5 Eles serão. como guerreiros

que pisam a lama das ruas na batalha.

Lutarão, pois o Senhor estará com eles,

e submeterão cavaleiros à vergonha.

6 "Assim, eu fortalecerei a tribo de Judá

e salvarei as tribos de José.

Eu os restaurarei

porque tenho compaixão deles.

Eles serão como se nunca os tivesse rejeitado,

porque eu sou o Senhor, o Deus deles,

e lhes responderei.

7 Efraim será como um guerreiro,

e o seu coração se alegrará como se fosse com vinho;

os seus filhos o verão e se alegrarão;

o seu coração exultará no Senhor.

8 Assobiarei para eles e os ajuntarei,

pois já os resgatei.

Serão numerosos como antes.

9 Embora eu os espalhe entre os povos,

em terras distantes eles se lembrarão de mim.

Com os filhos viverão e voltarão.

10 Eu os farei retornar do Egito

e os ajuntarei de volta da Assíria.

Eu os levarei para as terras de Gileade e do Líbano,

e mesmo assim não haverá espaço suficiente para eles.

11 Eles passarão pelo mar da aflição;

as ondas do mar serão subjugadas,

e todas as profundezas do Nilo se secarão.

O orgulho da Assíria será abatido,

e o cetro do Egito será derrubado.

12 Eu os fortalecerei no Senhor,

e no seu nome marcharão",

declara o Senhor.
