Greeting

1 Paul, *1 Pet. 5:12Silvanus, and Timothy,

To the church of the *Acts 17:1–9Thessalonians in God the Father and the Lord Jesus Christ:

Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.

Their Good Example

2 *Rom. 1:8; 2 Thess. 1:3We give thanks to God always for you all, making mention of you in our prayers, 3 remembering without ceasing *John 6:29your work of faith, *Rom. 16:6labor of love, and patience of hope in our Lord Jesus Christ in the sight of our God and Father, 4 knowing, beloved brethren, *Col. 3:12your election by God. 5 For *Mark 16:20our gospel did not come to you in word only, but also in power, *2 Cor. 6:6and in the Holy Spirit *Heb. 2:3and in much assurance, as you know what kind of men we were among you for your sake.

6 And *1 Cor. 4:16; 11:1you became followers of us and of the Lord, having received the word in much affliction, *Acts 5:41; 13:52; 2 Cor. 6:10; Gal. 5:22with joy of the Holy Spirit, 7 so that you became examples to all in Macedonia and Achaia who believe. 8 For from you the word of the Lord *Rom. 10:18has sounded forth, not only in Macedonia and Achaia, but also *Rom. 1:8; 16:19; 2 Cor. 2:14; 2 Thess. 1:4in every place. Your faith toward God has gone out, so that we do not need to say anything. 9 For they themselves declare concerning us *1 Thess. 2:1what manner of entry we had to you, *1 Cor. 12:2and how you turned to God from idols to serve the living and true God, 10 and *(Rom. 2:7)to wait for His Son from heaven, whom He raised from the dead, even Jesus who delivers us *Matt. 3:7; Rom. 5:9from the wrath to come.
