Christ Born of Mary

18 Now the *Matt. 12:46; Luke 1:27birth of Jesus Christ was as follows: After His mother Mary was betrothed to Joseph, before they came together, she was found with child *Is. 7:14; 49:5; Luke 1:35of the Holy Spirit. 19 Then Joseph her husband, being a just man, and not wanting *Deut. 24:1; John 8:4, 5to make her a public example, was minded to put her away secretly. 20 But while he thought about these things, behold, an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream, saying, "Joseph, son of David, do not be afraid to take to you Mary your wife, *Luke 1:35for that which is conceived in her is of the Holy Spirit. 21 *(Is. 7:14; 9:6, 7); Luke 1:31; 2:21And she will bring forth a Son, and you shall call His name Jesus, *Luke 2:11; John 1:29; (Acts 4:12; 5:31; 13:23, 38; Rom. 5:18, 19; Col. 1:20–23)for He will save His people from their sins."
