The Lord Helps His Troubled People

A Psalm of David #2 Sam. 15:13–17when he fled from Absalom his son.

1 Lord, how they have increased who trouble me!

Many are they who rise up against me.

2 Many are they who say of me,

"Thereis no help for him in God."

3 But You, O Lord, are*Ps. 5:12; 28:7a shield for me,

My glory and *Ps. 9:13; 27:6the One who lifts up my head.

4 I cried to the Lord with my voice,

And *Ps. 4:3; 34:4He heard me from His *Ps. 2:6; 15:1; 43:3holy hill.

5 *Lev. 26:6; Ps. 4:8; Prov. 3:24I lay down and slept;

I awoke, for the Lord sustained me.

6 *Ps. 23:4; 27:3I will not be afraid of ten thousands of people

Who have set themselves against me all around.

7 Arise, O Lord;

Save me, O my God!
