24And Gideon built an altar to the Lord there and named it Yahweh-Shalom (which means "the Lord is peace"). The altar remains in Ophrah in the land of the clan of Abiezer to this day.

5So these five Amorite kings combined their armies for a united attack. They moved all their troops into place and attacked Gibeon.

11As the Amorites retreated down the road from Beth-horon, the Lord destroyed them with a terrible hailstorm from heaven that continued until they reached Azekah. The hail killed more of the enemy than the Israelites killed with the sword.

12On the day the Lord gave the Israelites victory over the Amorites, Joshua prayed to the Lord in front of all the people of Israel. He said,"Let the sun stand still over Gibeon,and the moon over the valley of Aijalon."

11No wonder our hearts have melted in fear! No one has the courage to fight after hearing such things. For the Lord your God is the supreme God of the heavens above and the earth below.

13But I keep praying to you, Lord,hoping this time you will show me favor.In your unfailing love, O God,answer my prayer with your sure salvation.

14Rescue me from the mud;don’t let me sink any deeper!Save me from those who hate me,and pull me from these deep waters.

16Answer my prayers, O Lord,for your unfailing love is wonderful.Take care of me,for your mercy is so plentiful.

3the kings of Canaan, both east and west; the kings of the Amorites, the Hittites, the Perizzites, the Jebusites in the hill country, and the Hivites in the towns on the slopes of Mount Hermon in the land of Mizpah.

1Praise the Lord, all you nations.Praise him, all you people of the earth.

2For his unfailing love for us is powerful;the Lord’s faithfulness endures forever.Praise the Lord!

7Then Joshua cried out, "Oh, Sovereign Lord, why did you bring us across the Jordan River if you are going to let the Amorites kill us? If only we had been content to stay on the other side!

13"Get up! Command the people to purify themselves in preparation for tomorrow. For this is what the Lord, the God of Israel, says: Hidden among you, O Israel, are things set apart for the Lord. You will never defeat your enemies until you remove these things from among you.
