7 For yourselves know how you2f ought to follow us: for we behaved not ourselves disorderly among you;
8 Neither did we eat any man’s bread for nothing; but wrought with labour and travail night and day, that we might not be chargeable to any of you:
9 Not because we have not power, but to make ourselves an example unto you to follow us.
10 For even when we were with you, this we commanded you, that if any would not work, neither should he eat.
7 For yourselves know how ye ought to follow us: for we behaved not ourselves disorderly among you; 8 Neither did we eat any man’s bread for nought; but wrought with labour and travail night and day, that we might not be chargeable to any of you: 9 Not because we have not power, but to make ourselves an ensample unto you to follow us. 10 For even when we were with you, this we commanded you, that if any would not work, neither should he eat.
7 For you yourselves know how you ought to follow our example. We were not idle when we were with you, 8 nor did we eat anyone’s food without paying for it. On the contrary, we worked night and day, laboring and toiling so that we would not be a burden to any of you. 9 We did this, not because we do not have the right to such help, but in order to offer ourselves as a model for you to imitate. 10 For even when we were with you, we gave you this rule: "The one who is unwilling to work shall not eat."
7 For you yourselves know [Acts 20:35]; See 1 Thess. 1:6how you ought to imitate us, because 1 Thess. 1:5we were not idle when we were with you, 8 nor did we eat anyone’s bread without paying for it, but See 1 Thess. 2:9with toil and labor we worked night and day, that we might not be a burden to any of you. 9 It was 1 Cor. 9:4;1 Thess. 2:6not because we do not have that right, but to give you in ourselves ver. 7;1 Pet. 5:3an example to imitate. 10 For even when we were with you, we would give you this command: [Gen. 3:19]; See 1 Thess. 4:11If anyone is not willing to work, let him not eat.
7 For you know that you ought to imitate us. We were not idle when we were with you. 8 We never accepted food from anyone without paying for it. We worked hard day and night so we would not be a burden to any of you. 9 We certainly had the right to ask you to feed us, but we wanted to give you an example to follow. 10 Even while we were with you, we gave you this command: "Those unwilling to work will not get to eat."
7 For you yourselves know how you ought to follow us, for we were not disorderly among you; 8 nor did we eat anyone’s bread free of charge, but worked with 1 Thess. 2:9labor and toil night and day, that we might not be a burden to any of you, 9 not because we do not have 1 Cor. 9:4, 6–14authority, but to make ourselves an example of how you should follow us.
10 For even when we were with you, we commanded you this: If anyone will not work, neither shall he eat.
7 For you yourselves know how you ought to 3:7 Or imitate usfollow our example, because we did not act in an undisciplined way among you, 8 nor did we eat 3:8 Lit from anyoneanyone’s bread 3:8 Lit freelywithout paying for it, but with labor and hardship we kept working night and day so that we would not be a burden to any of you; 9 not because we do not have the right to this, but in order to offer ourselves as a role model for you, so that you would 3:9 Or imitate usfollow our example. 10 For even when we were with you, we used to give you this order: if anyone is not willing to work, then he is not to eat, either.
7 For you yourselves know how you should imitate 3:7 3Jn 11 us: We were not idle among you; 8 we did not eat 3:8 1Co 10:25 anyone’s food free of charge; 3:8 1Th 2:7 instead, we labored 3:8 Rv 14:13 and toiled, 3:8 2Co 11:27; 1Th 2:9 working 3:8 Ac 18:3; Eph 4:28; 2Jn 8 night and day, so that we would not be a burden 3:8 2Co 2:5; 1Th 2:9 to any of you. 9 It is not that we don’t have the right 3:9 Mk 1:22; Ac 9:14; Rm 13:1; 1Co 9:4–14 to support, but we did it to make ourselves an example to you so that you would imitate 3:9 Heb 8:5 us. 10 In fact, when we were with you, this is what we commanded you: "If anyone isn’t willing to work, he should not eat." 3:10 1Th 4:11
7 For yourselves know how you ought to imitate us: for we were not disorderly among you; 8 Neither did we eat any man’s bread for nothing, but in labour and in toil we worked night and day, lest we should be chargeable to any of you. 9 Not as if we had not power: but that we might give ourselves a pattern unto you, to imitate us. 10 For also when we were with you, this we declared to you: that, if any man will not work, neither let him eat.
