Ephesians 5:25-29,33

NMV New Messianic Version Bible

25 Husbands, love your wives, even as Moshiach [Messiah] also loved the church, and gave himself for it;

26 That he might sanctify (make holy; set apart for God’s use) and cleanse it with the washing of water by the word,

27 That he might present it to himself a glorious church, not having spot, or wrinkle, or any such thing; but that it should be holy and without blemish.

28 So ought men to love their wives as their own bodies. He that loves his wife loves himself.

29 For no man ever yet hated his own flesh; but nourishes and cherishes it, even as the Lord - Kurios the church:

33 Nevertheless let every one of you in particular so love his wife even as himself; and the wife [see] that she reverence [her] husband.

    25 Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave himself for it; 26 That he might sanctify and cleanse it with the washing of water by the word, 27 That he might present it to himself a glorious church, not having spot, or wrinkle, or any such thing; but that it should be holy and without blemish. 28 So ought men to love their wives as their own bodies. He that loveth his wife loveth himself. 29 For no man ever yet hated his own flesh; but nourisheth and cherisheth it, even as the Lord the church: 33 Nevertheless let every one of you in particular so love his wife even as himself; and the wife see that she reverence her husband.

  2. NIV New International Version

    25 Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her 26 to make her holy, cleansing5:26 Or having cleansed her by the washing with water through the word, 27 and to present her to himself as a radiant church, without stain or wrinkle or any other blemish, but holy and blameless. 28 In this same way, husbands ought to love their wives as their own bodies. He who loves his wife loves himself. 29 After all, no one ever hated their own body, but they feed and care for their body, just as Christ does the church— 33 However, each one of you also must love his wife as he loves himself, and the wife must respect her husband.

    25 ver. 28, 33;[1 Pet. 3:7] Husbands, love your wives, as Christ loved the church and ver. 2gave himself up for her, 26 that he might sanctify her, having cleansed her by Titus 3:5;[Rev. 7:14] the washing of water ch. 6:17;Heb. 6:5;See John 15:3with the word, 27 so 2 Cor. 11:2;See ch. 1:4that he might present the church to himself in splendor, Song 4:7without spot or wrinkle or any such thing, that she might be holy and without blemish.5:27 Or holy and blameless28 In the same way ver. 25, 33husbands should love their wives as their own bodies. He who loves his wife loves himself. 29 For no one ever hated his own flesh, but nourishes and cherishes it, just as Christ does the church, 33 However, ver. 25, 28let each one of you love his wife as himself, and let the wife see that she 1 Pet. 3:2,6respects her husband.

  4. NLT New Living Translation

    25 For husbands, this means love your wives, just as Christ loved the church. He gave up his life for her 26 to make her holy and clean, washed by the cleansing of God’s word.5:26 Greek washed by water with the word.27 He did this to present her to himself as a glorious church without a spot or wrinkle or any other blemish. Instead, she will be holy and without fault. 28 In the same way, husbands ought to love their wives as they love their own bodies. For a man who loves his wife actually shows love for himself. 29 No one hates his own body but feeds and cares for it, just as Christ cares for the church.

    33 So again I say, each man must love his wife as he loves himself, and the wife must respect her husband.

He who loves his own wife loves himself; 29 for no one ever hated his own flesh, but nourishes and cherishes it, just as Christ also does the church, 33 Nevertheless, as for you individually, each husband is to love his own wife the same as himself, and the wife must see to it that she respects her husband.
