39 He said to them: "An evil and ungodly generation seeks a sign, but no sign will be given it except the sign of Yonah [dove] the Prophet.
41 "The men of Ninevah will rise up in judgment with this generation and shall condemn it, because they turned in repentance at the words of Yonah [dove] and I am greater than Yonah [dove]"
39 But he answered and said unto them, An evil and adulterous generation seeketh after a sign; and there shall no sign be given to it, but the sign of the prophet Jonas: 41 The men of Nineveh shall rise in judgment with this generation, and shall condemn it: because they repented at the preaching of Jonas; and, behold, a greater than Jonas is here.
39 He answered, "A wicked and adulterous generation asks for a sign! But none will be given it except the sign of the prophet Jonah.41 The men of Nineveh will stand up at the judgment with this generation and condemn it; for they repented at the preaching of Jonah, and now something greater than Jonah is here.
39 But he answered them, ch. 16:4;For ver. 39-42, see Luke 11:29-32;[Mark 8:11,12] "An evil and Isa. 57:3;Mark 8:38;James 4:4adulterous generation seeks for a sign, but no sign will be given to it except the sign of the prophet Jonah.41 Jonah 1:2The men of Nineveh will rise up at the judgment with this generation and Heb. 11:7;[Jer. 3:11;Ezek. 16:51,52;Rom. 2:27] condemn it, for Jonah 3:5they repented at the preaching of Jonah, and behold, ver. 6something greater than Jonah is here.
39 But Jesus replied, "Only an evil, adulterous generation would demand a miraculous sign; but the only sign I will give them is the sign of the prophet Jonah.
41 "The people of Nineveh will stand up against this generation on judgment day and condemn it, for they repented of their sins at the preaching of Jonah. Now someone greater than Jonah is here—but you refuse to repent.
39 But He answered and said to them, "An evil and Is. 57:3; Matt. 16:4; Mark 8:38; (Luke 11:29–32); John 4:48adulterous generation seeks after a sign, and no sign will be given to it except the sign of the prophet Jonah.41 Jon. 3:5; Luke 11:32The men of Nineveh will rise up in the judgment with this generation and Jer. 3:11; Ezek. 16:51; (Rom. 2:27)condemn it, Jon. 3:5because they repented at the preaching of Jonah; and indeed a greater than Jonah is here.
39 But He answered and said to them, "An evil and adulterous generation craves a 12:39 I.e., confirming miraclesign; and so no 12:39 I.e., confirming miraclesign will be given to it except the 12:39 I.e., confirming miraclesign of Jonah the prophet;41 The men of Nineveh will stand up with this generation at the judgment, and will condemn it because they repented at the preaching of Jonah; and behold, something greater than Jonah is here.
39 He answered them, 12:39 Mk 8:11–12; Lk 11:29–32"An evil and adulterous generation demands a sign, but no sign will be given to it except the sign of the prophet Jonah. 12:39 Is 57:3; Mt 16:4; Mk 8:3841 The men of Nineveh will stand up at the judgment with this generation and condemn it, 12:41 Jr 3:11; Ezk 16:51; Rm 2:27because they repented at Jonah’s preaching; and look — something greater than Jonah is here. 12:41 Jnh 1:2; 3:5
39 Who answering said to them: An evil and adulterous generation seeketh a sign: and a sign shall not be given it, but the sign of Jonas the prophet. 41 The men of Ninive shall rise in judgment with this generation, and shall condemn it: because they did penance at the preaching of Jonas. And behold a greater than Jonas here.
