3 This happened because Herod [heroic] had seized Yochanan [Yah is gracious] in those days bound him in prison because he was reproving him that he should not take Herodias for a wife because she was the wife of his brother.
4 Yochanan [Yah is gracious] was saying to him: "She is not permissible to you".
3 For Herod had laid hold on John, and bound him, and put him in prison for Herodias’ sake, his brother Philip’s wife. 4 For John said unto him, It is not lawful for thee to have her.
3 Now Herod had arrested John and bound him and put him in prison because of Herodias, his brother Philip’s wife, 4 for John had been saying to him: "It is not lawful for you to have her."
