Numbers 14:1-3,9,33,34

NMV New Messianic Version Bible

1 And all the congregation lifted up their voice, and cried; and the people wept that night.

2 And all the people of Yisra’el [He Holds Onto The Heel Of God] murmured against Moshe [He Who Draws Out Of The Waters] and against Aharon [Bright, Very High]: and the whole congregation said unto them, Would God-Elōhīm (The Living Word) [The Many Powered] that we had died in the land of Mitzrayim [Egypt - The Narrow Place]! or would God-Elōhīm (The Living Word) [The Many Powered] we had died in this wilderness!

3 And wherefore has the LORD-Yehōvah (Messiah Pre-Incarnate) brought us unto this land, to fall by the sword, that our wives and our children should be a prey? were it not better for us to return into Mitzrayim [Egypt - The Narrow Place]?

9 Only rebel not you2f against the LORD-Yehōvah (Messiah Pre-Incarnate), neither fear you2f the people of the land; for they [are] bread for us: their defense is departed from them, and the LORD-Yehōvah (Messiah Pre-Incarnate) [is] with us: fear them not.

33 And your children shall wander in the wilderness forty years, and bear your cult prostitution, until your carcasses be wasted in the wilderness.

34 After the number of the days in which you2f searched the land, [even] forty days, each day for a year, shall you2f bear your iniquities, [even] forty years, and you2f shall know my breach (breaking forth; a break; opening, inlet) of promise.

  2. NIV New International Version

1 That night all the members of the community raised their voices and wept aloud. 2 All the Israelites grumbled against Moses and Aaron, and the whole assembly said to them, "If only we had died in Egypt! Or in this wilderness! 3 Why is the Lord bringing us to this land only to let us fall by the sword? Our wives and children will be taken as plunder. Wouldn’t it be better for us to go back to Egypt?"

9 Only do not rebel against the Lord. And do not be afraid of the people of the land, because we will devour them. Their protection is gone, but the Lord is with us. Do not be afraid of them."

33 Your children will be shepherds here for forty years, suffering for your unfaithfulness, until the last of your bodies lies in the wilderness. 34 For forty years—one year for each of the forty days you explored the land—you will suffer for your sins and know what it is like to have me against you.’

  4. NLT New Living Translation

1 Then the whole community began weeping aloud, and they cried all night. 2 Their voices rose in a great chorus of protest against Moses and Aaron. "If only we had died in Egypt, or even here in the wilderness!" they complained. 3 "Why is the Lord taking us to this country only to have us die in battle? Our wives and our little ones will be carried off as plunder! Wouldn’t it be better for us to return to Egypt?"

9 Do not rebel against the Lord, and don’t be afraid of the people of the land. They are only helpless prey to us! They have no protection, but the Lord is with us! Don’t be afraid of them!"

33 And your children will be like shepherds, wandering in the wilderness for forty years. In this way, they will pay for your faithlessness, until the last of you lies dead in the wilderness.

34 "‘Because your men explored the land for forty days, you must wander in the wilderness for forty years—a year for each day, suffering the consequences of your sins. Then you will discover what it is like to have me for an enemy.’

Is it not better to return into Egypt? 9 Be not rebellious against the Lord: and fear ye not the people of this land, for we are able to eat them up as bread. All aid is gone from them: the Lord is with us, fear ye not. 33 Your children shall wander in the desert forty years, and shall bear your fornication, until the carcasses of their fathers be consumed ill the desert, 34 According to the number of the forty days, wherein you viewed the land: year shall be counted for a day.
