1 Portanto, meus queridos irmãos em Cristo e meus amigos, vocês que são a minha alegria, vocês que são como uma recompensa do meu trabalho, peço-vos que se mantenham firmes no Senhor.

2 Também quero suplicar, em particular, a Evódia e a Síntique, que procurem viver em boa harmonia no Senhor. 3 Peço-te também a ti, meu fiel companheiro, que ajudes essas mulheres, pois trabalharam comigo pela causa do evangelho, assim como Clemente e outros meus colaboradores, cujos nomes estão escritos no livro da vida.

4 Que a vossa alegria seja constante no Senhor! E mais uma vez vos digo: alegrem-se! 5 Mostrem bondade em tudo o que fazem. Lembrem-se que o Senhor está perto.

6 Não alimentem preocupações seja pelo que for, antes apresentem os vossos cuidados em oração e súplicas perante Deus. Exponham-lhe todas as vossas necessidades, sem esquecer de lhe expressar o vosso agradecimento. 7 Então, a paz de Deus, que ultrapassa tudo o que a mente humana pode naturalmente compreender, conservará o vosso espírito e os vossos sentimentos em Cristo Jesus.

8 Por fim, meus irmãos, deixem-me dizer-vos mais uma coisa. Concentrem os vossos pensamentos em tudo que é verdadeiro, em tudo o que é honesto, em tudo o que é justo, em tudo o que é puro, em tudo o que é amável e admirável; em tudo aquilo em que há virtude e verdadeiro valor. 9 Em resumo, tudo o que aprenderam, receberam e ouviram de mim, tudo o que observaram na minha maneira de viver, ponham isso em prática. E o Deus de paz será convosco.

10 Fiquei muito contente e muito grato ao Senhor por constatar que se lembraram de novo de mim. Sei bem que não me tinham esquecido, que foi só uma questão de não terem tido oportunidade de me enviar a vossa ajuda. 11 Não digo isto porque tenha receio de me ver na pobreza. Já aprendi a contentar-me com o que tenho de momento. Sei o que é passar necessidades e sei também o que é ter em abundância. 12 Aprendi já a viver em todas as circunstâncias: tanto na fartura como na fome; tanto no conforto como nas privações. 13 Posso suportar todas as coisas com a ajuda de Cristo, que é a fonte da minha força.

14 Contudo, fizeram bem em me terem ajudado nesta difícil situação. 15 Aliás, vocês, filipenses, bem sabem que, quando parti da Macedónia e o vosso conhecimento do evangelho estava no princípio, nenhuma outra igreja se associou comigo quanto a dar ou a receber, senão somente a vossa. 16 Mesmo quando estava em Tessalónica, enviaram-me mais do que uma vez aquilo que me era necessário. 17 Não é que esteja a fazer apelo a donativos; procuro antes que produzam frutos que tornem maior a vossa recompensa. 18 De momento tenho o que me é preciso; tenho mesmo mais do que o suficiente, desde que Epafrodito me trouxe o que me enviaram, e que é como que o perfume de um sacrifício que Deus aceita e que o satisfaz. 19 E o mesmo Deus, que cuida de mim, satisfará todas as vossas necessidades, segundo as suas riquezas através de Cristo Jesus.

20 Que ao nosso Deus e Pai seja dada a glória para todo o sempre. Amém.

21 Saúdem todos os que pertencem a Cristo Jesus. Os crentes que aqui estão comigo também vos saúdam. 22 Todos os cristãos aqui de Roma vos mandam saudações, principalmente os da casa de César.

23 Que a graça de nosso Senhor Jesus Cristo seja com o vosso espírito!

1 Therefore, my brethren dearly beloved and longed for, my joy and crown, so stand fast in the Lord, my dearly beloved. 2 I beseech Euodias, and beseech Syntyche, that they be of the same mind in the Lord. 3 And I intreat thee also, true yokefellow, help those women which laboured with me in the gospel, with Clement also, and with other my fellowlabourers, whose names are in the book of life. 4 Rejoice in the Lord alway: and again I say, Rejoice. 5 Let your moderation be known unto all men. The Lord is at hand. 6 Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God. 7 And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus. 8 Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things. 9 Those things, which ye have both learned, and received, and heard, and seen in me, do: and the God of peace shall be with you.

10 But I rejoiced in the Lord greatly, that now at the last your care of me hath flourished again; wherein ye were also careful, but ye lacked opportunity. 11 Not that I speak in respect of want: for I have learned, in whatsoever state I am, therewith to be content. 12 I know both how to be abased, and I know how to abound: every where and in all things I am instructed both to be full and to be hungry, both to abound and to suffer need. 13 I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me. 14 Notwithstanding ye have well done, that ye did communicate with my affliction. 15 Now ye Philippians know also, that in the beginning of the gospel, when I departed from Macedonia, no church communicated with me as concerning giving and receiving, but ye only. 16 For even in Thessalonica ye sent once and again unto my necessity. 17 Not because I desire a gift: but I desire fruit that may abound to your account. 18 But I have all, and abound: I am full, having received of Epaphroditus the things which were sent from you, an odour of a sweet smell, a sacrifice acceptable, wellpleasing to God. 19 But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus. 20 Now unto God and our Father be glory for ever and ever. Amen.

21 Salute every saint in Christ Jesus. The brethren which are with me greet you. 22 All the saints salute you, chiefly they that are of Caesar’s household. 23 The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you all. Amen.
