1 Os descendentes de Noé são os seguintes: Sem, Cam e Jafete que lhe nasceram antes do dilúvio.

2 Os filhos de Jafete foram:

Gomer, Magogue, Madai, Javã, Tubal, Meseque e Tiras.

3 Os filhos de Gomer:

Asquenaz, Rifat e Togarma.

4 Os filhos de Javã:

Elisá, Társis, Quitim e Dodanim. 5 Os descendentes destes tornaram-se povos marítimos, conquistando terra além-mar, formando nações, cada uma com a sua língua.

6 Os filhos de Cam foram:

Cuche, Mizraim*10.6 Posteriormente veio a designar o Egito., Pute e Canaã.

7 Os filhos de Cuche:

Seba, Havila, Sabta, Rama e Sabteca.

Os filhos de Ramá:

Sabá e Dedã.

8 Um dos descendentes de Cuche foi Nimrode que se tornou um dos homens mais poderosos da Terra. 9 Era um grande caçador e Deus ajudou-o de tal forma que o povo costumava dizer: "Que o Senhor te faça um grande caçador, à maneira de Nimrode!" 10 O seu reino incluía grandes cidades como Babel, Ereque, Acade e Calné, na terra de Sinar.*10.10 Isto é, Babilónia.11 Daqui estendeu-se para a Assíria onde edificou Nínive, Reobote-Ir, Cala, 12 Resen, entre Nínive e Cala, que era a maior cidade daquele império.

13 As famílias que descenderam de Mizraim foram os ludeus, anameus, leabeus, naftueus, 14 patruseus e caslueus, de onde descenderam os filisteus, e os caftoreus.

15 Entre os descendentes de Canaã contam-se Sídon, o seu filho primogénito, e Hete. 16 Canaã foi também o antepassado dos jebuseus, amorreus, girgaseus, 17 heveus, arqueus, sineus, 18 arvadeus, zemareus e hamateus. Depois disso, espalharam-se as famílias dos cananeus. 19 O seu território estendia-se desde Sídon a Gerar, chegando ao limite de Gaza. Chegaram mesmo a Sodoma e Gomorra e a Admá e Zeboim perto de Lasa.

20 Estes são os descendentes de Cam que se espalharam, formando povos e nações com as suas diferentes línguas.

21 Sem, o irmão mais velho de Jafete, teve também filhos. Todos os filhos de Eber são descendentes de Sem.

22 Sem teve como filhos Elão, Assur,*10.22 Isto é, Assíria. Arfaxade, Lude e Aram.

23 Este último foi pai de Uz, Hul, Geter e Mas.*10.23 Ou Meseque. Ver 1 Cr 1.17.

24 Arfaxade gerou Sala e este gerou Eber.

25 Eber teve dois filhos:

Pelegue, porque foi durante a sua vida que os povos de todo o mundo começaram a separar-se e a dispersar-se, e Joctã.

26 Os filhos de Joctã foram Almodade, Selefe, Hazarmavet, Jera, 27 Hadorão, Uzal, Dicla, 28 Obal, Abimael, Sabá, 29 Ofir, Havila e Jobabe.

30 Todos estes descendentes de Joctã viveram entre Messa e Sefar que é uma montanha do oriente.

31 Estes são os descendentes de Sem, segundo os povos e as nações que foram formando, com as suas línguas próprias e a localização geográfica respetiva.

32 É esta a relação dos descendentes de Noé, a partir dos quais se formaram as nações da Terra depois do dilúvio.

1 Now these are the generations of the sons of Noah, Shem, Ham, and Japheth: and unto them were sons born after the flood. 2 The sons of Japheth; Gomer, and Magog, and Madai, and Javan, and Tubal, and Meshech, and Tiras. 3 And the sons of Gomer; Ashkenaz, and Riphath, and Togarmah. 4 And the sons of Javan; Elishah, and Tarshish, Kittim, and Dodanim.*10.4 Dodanim: or, as some read it, Rodanim 5 By these were the isles of the Gentiles divided in their lands; every one after his tongue, after their families, in their nations.

6 And the sons of Ham; Cush, and Mizraim, and Phut, and Canaan. 7 And the sons of Cush; Seba, and Havilah, and Sabtah, and Raamah, and Sabtecha: and the sons of Raamah; Sheba, and Dedan. 8 And Cush begat Nimrod: he began to be a mighty one in the earth. 9 He was a mighty hunter before the LORD: wherefore it is said, Even as Nimrod the mighty hunter before the LORD. 10 And the beginning of his kingdom was Babel, and Erech, and Accad, and Calneh, in the land of Shinar.*10.10 Babel: Gr. Babylon 11 Out of that land went forth Asshur, and builded Nineveh, and the city Rehoboth, and Calah,*10.11 went…: or, he went out into Assyria*10.11 the city…: or, the streets of the city 12 And Resen between Nineveh and Calah: the same is a great city. 13 And Mizraim begat Ludim, and Anamim, and Lehabim, and Naphtuhim, 14 And Pathrusim, and Casluhim, (out of whom came Philistim,) and Caphtorim.

15 And Canaan begat Sidon his firstborn, and Heth,*10.15 Sidon: Heb. Tzidon 16 And the Jebusite, and the Amorite, and the Girgasite, 17 And the Hivite, and the Arkite, and the Sinite, 18 And the Arvadite, and the Zemarite, and the Hamathite: and afterward were the families of the Canaanites spread abroad. 19 And the border of the Canaanites was from Sidon, as thou comest to Gerar, unto Gaza; as thou goest, unto Sodom, and Gomorrah, and Admah, and Zeboim, even unto Lasha.*10.19 Gaza: Heb. Azzah 20 These are the sons of Ham, after their families, after their tongues, in their countries, and in their nations.

21 Unto Shem also, the father of all the children of Eber, the brother of Japheth the elder, even to him were children born. 22 The children of Shem; Elam, and Asshur, and Arphaxad, and Lud, and Aram.*10.22 Arphaxad: Heb. Arpachshad 23 And the children of Aram; Uz, and Hul, and Gether, and Mash. 24 And Arphaxad begat Salah; and Salah begat Eber.*10.24 Salah: Heb. Shelah 25 And unto Eber were born two sons: the name of one was Peleg; for in his days was the earth divided; and his brother’s name was Joktan.*10.25 Peleg: that is Division 26 And Joktan begat Almodad, and Sheleph, and Hazarmaveth, and Jerah, 27 And Hadoram, and Uzal, and Diklah, 28 And Obal, and Abimael, and Sheba, 29 And Ophir, and Havilah, and Jobab: all these were the sons of Joktan. 30 And their dwelling was from Mesha, as thou goest unto Sephar a mount of the east. 31 These are the sons of Shem, after their families, after their tongues, in their lands, after their nations. 32 These are the families of the sons of Noah, after their generations, in their nations: and by these were the nations divided in the earth after the flood.
