16 E eis o conselho que vos dou: Andem debaixo da direcção do Espírito, e dessa forma não darão satisfação aos apelos dos vossos instintos.

17 Porque a nossa natureza pecaminosa é oposta à vida do Espírito e vice-versa: o Espírito opõe-se aos instintos naturais. Estas duas forças estão a lutar uma contra a outra e desta forma não fazemos o que gostaríamos

16 But I say, walk by the Spirit, and you{} will not fulfill the desire of the flesh.

17 For the flesh lusts against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh; for these are contrary the one to the other; that you{} may not do the things that you{} want.
