1 Paavali saapui sitten Derbeen ja Lystraan. Lystrassa oli Timoteus-niminen opetuslapsi, jonka äiti oli kristitty juutalainen mutta isä kreikkalainen.

3 Paavali halusi ottaa Timoteuksen matkalle mukaan, ja siksi hän ympärileikkasi tämän. Näin hän teki niiden seutujen juutalaisten tähden, sillä kaikki tiesivät, että Timoteuksen isä oli kreikkalainen.
