After James and John requested to sit on the right and left of Jesus when he rules, Jesus told them what will happen and how they should act.
35 Along the way, James and John, who were the two sons of Zebedee, approached Jesus and they said to him, "Teacher, please do for us what we will ask you to do!" 36 He said to them, "What do you want me to do for you?" 37 They said to him, "When you rule gloriously, let us rule with you. Let one of us sit at your right side and one sit at your left side."
