3Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! In his great mercy he caused us to be born again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead,

7Therefore be patient, brothers, until the coming of the Lord. Behold, the farmer waits for the precious fruit of the earth, being patient for it until it receives the early and latter rain.
8You also must be patient. Establish your hearts, for the coming of the Lord has drawn near.

4endurance produces proven character, proven character produces hope,
10For if, while we were God’s enemies, we were reconciled to him through the death of his Son, how much more will we be saved by his life now that we have been reconciled!
2fixing our eyes upon Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith. For the joy set before him he endured the cross, disregarding its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.
23to the festive gathering and assembly of the firstborn, whose names are enrolled in heaven. You have come to God, the judge of all, and to the spirits of righteous people who have been made perfect.
