1. KJV King James Version

23 Let us hold fast the profession of our faith without wavering; (for he is faithful that promised;) 32 But call to remembrance the former days, in which, after ye were illuminated, ye endured a great fight of afflictions; 33 Partly, whilst ye were made a gazingstock both by reproaches and afflictions; and partly, whilst ye became companions of them that were so used. 34 For ye had compassion of me in my bonds, and took joyfully the spoiling of your goods, knowing in yourselves that ye have in heaven a better and an enduring substance. 36 For ye have need of patience, that, after ye have done the will of God, ye might receive the promise.

2. NIV New International Version

23 Let us hold unswervingly to the hope we profess, for he who promised is faithful.

32 Remember those earlier days after you had received the light, when you endured in a great conflict full of suffering. 33 Sometimes you were publicly exposed to insult and persecution; at other times you stood side by side with those who were so treated. 34 You suffered along with those in prison and joyfully accepted the confiscation of your property, because you knew that you yourselves had better and lasting possessions.

36 You need to persevere so that when you have done the will of God, you will receive what he has promised.

4. NLT New Living Translation

23 Let us hold tightly without wavering to the hope we affirm, for God can be trusted to keep his promise.

32 Think back on those early days when you first learned about Christ.*10:32 Greek when you were first enlightened. Remember how you remained faithful even though it meant terrible suffering. 33 Sometimes you were exposed to public ridicule and were beaten, and sometimes you helped others who were suffering the same things. 34 You suffered along with those who were thrown into jail, and when all you owned was taken from you, you accepted it with joy. You knew there were better things waiting for you that will last forever.

36 Patient endurance is what you need now, so that you will continue to do God’s will. Then you will receive all that he has promised.

8. DRA Douay-Rheims American 1899

23 Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering (for he is faithful that hath promised), 32 But call to mind the former days, wherein, being illuminated, you endured a great fight of afflictions. 33 And on the one hand indeed, by reproaches and tribulations, were made a gazingstock; and on the other, became companions of them that were used in such sort. 34 For you both had compassion on them that were in bands, and took with joy the being stripped of your own goods, knowing that you have a better and a lasting substance. 36 For patience is necessary for you; that, doing the will of God, you may receive the promise.
