I Am the True Vine
1 "I am the true vine, and my Father is the vinedresser. 2 Every branch in me that does not bear fruit he takes away, and every branch that does bear fruit he prunes so that it will bear more fruit. 3 You have already been pruned by the word I have spoken to you. 4 Abide in me, and I will abide in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit by itself unless it abides in the vine, neither can you bear fruit unless you abide in me. 5 I am the vine; you are the branches. Whoever abides in me, and I in him, bears much fruit, because apart from me you can do nothing. 6 If anyone does not abide in me, he is thrown out like a branch and withers. Such branches are gathered up, thrown into the fire, and burned. 7 If you abide in me and my words abide in you, 15:7 you will ¦ --- ANT CTyou will ask for whatever you wish, and it will be done for you. 8 My Father is glorified when you bear much 15:8 fruit, and by doing so you will be ¦ fruit and become CT {Note: The words by doing so are not in the main Greek text but have been added for the sake of clarity.}fruit, and by doing so you will be my disciples.
