Jesus Visits Zacchaeus
1 Then Jesus entered Jericho and was passing through. 2 And behold, there was a man named Zacchaeus. He was a chief tax collector and was rich. 3 He was trying to see who Jesus was, but he could not do so because of the crowd, for he was a short man. 4 So he ran on ahead and climbed a sycamore tree so that he could see him, because Jesus was about to pass by that way. 5 When Jesus came to that place, he looked up and 19:5 saw him. Then he ¦ --- CTsaw him. Then he said to him, "Zacchaeus, hurry and come down, for I must stay at yoʋr house today." 6 So he hurried down and received Jesus with joy. 7 When all the people saw it, they grumbled, saying, "He has gone to be the guest of a sinful man." 8 But Zacchaeus stood there and said to the Lord, "Behold, half of my goods, Lord, I give to the poor, and if I have extorted anything from anyone, I will pay back four times the amount." 9 Jesus said to him, "Today salvation has come to this house, because this man has shown that he too is a son of Abraham. 10 For the Son of Man came to seek and save the lost."
