These words have been added for stylistic purposes.}Jesus went on to say, "To what then should I compare the people of this generation, and what are they like? 32 They are like children who sit in the marketplace and call out to one another,

We played the flute for you, but you did not dance;

we sang a lament 7:32 for you ¦ --- CTfor you, but you did not weep.

33 For John the Baptist came neither eating bread nor drinking wine, and you say, He has a demon. 34 The Son of Man came eating and drinking, and you say, Behold, a glutton and a drunkard, a friend of tax collectors and sinners! 35 Yet wisdom is vindicated by all her children."

Jesus Forgives a Sinful Woman

36 One of the Pharisees asked Jesus to eat with him, so he went into the Pharisee’s house and reclined at the table. 37 And behold, when a woman in that city who was a sinner found out that Jesus was reclining at the table in the Pharisee’s house, she brought an alabaster jar of ointment.
