The Triumphal Entry
1 When they drew near to Jerusalem and came to 21:1 Bethsphage 𝔐17 ¦ Bethphage 𝔐6 CT TRBethsphage, at the Mount of Olives, Jesus sent two disciples ahead, 2 telling them, "Go into the village ahead of you, and immediately you will find a donkey tied there and a colt with it. Untie them and bring them to me. 3 If anyone says anything to you, say, ‘The Lord has need of them.’ And immediately he will send them." 4 Now 21:4 all ¦ --- CTall this took place to fulfill what the Lord had spoken through the prophet:
5 "Say to the daughter of Zion,
‘Behold, yoʋr king is coming to yoʋ,
humble and mounted on a donkey,
and 21:5 a ¦ on a CTa colt, the foal of a beast of burden.’ "
6 So the disciples went and did just as Jesus had directed them. 7 They brought the donkey and the colt and laid on them their garments, and 21:7 Jesus sat ¦ they set Jesus SCRJesus sat on them. 8 A very large crowd spread their garments on the road, and others cut down branches from the trees and also spread them on the road. 9 The crowds that went ahead of him and those that followed were crying out,
"Hosanna to the Son of David!
Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord!
Hosanna in the highest!"
10 As he came into Jerusalem, the whole city was stirred up, saying, "Who is this?" 11 So the crowds were saying, "This is the prophet Jesus, who is from Nazareth of Galilee."
