13 Der Engel meinte aber gleich zu ihm: „Hallo Zacharias! Bleib locker, Gott hat auf dich und deine Gebete gehört. Deine Frau, die Elisabeth, die wird für dich noch einen Sohn kriegen, und der soll dann Johannes heißen.

14 Dieser Sohn wird dich total glücklich machen, und nicht nur dich, auch viele andere Menschen!

15 Gott hat was mit ihm vor. Er wird radikal mit Gott leben, keine Drogen oder Alk zu sich nehmen. Dafür wird er schon vor seiner Geburt abgefüllt sein mit einer ganz besonderen Kraft von Gott, nämlich mit seinem Geist.

16 Und er wird dafür sorgen, dass viele Israelis sich wieder auf ihren Gott einlassen.

17 Er wird so drauf sein wie der Prophet Elia und er wird alles klarmachen für Gott. Er wird dafür sorgen, dass die Väter wieder mit ihren Kindern klarkommen und sich ihnen zuwenden. Die Leute, die weg waren von Gott, werden ihn wieder finden. Er soll dem Meister für seine Arbeit gut vorbereitete Menschen überlassen."

13 But the angel said unto him, Fear not, Zacharias: because thy supplication is heard, and thy wife Elisabeth shall bear thee a son, and thou shalt call his name John. 14 And thou shalt have joy and gladness; and many shall rejoice at his birth. 15 For he shall be great in the sight of the Lord, and he shall drink no wine nor strong drink; and he shall be filled with the Holy Spirit, even from his mother’s womb. 16 And many of the children of Israel shall he turn unto the Lord their God. 17 And he shall go before his face in the spirit and power of Elijah, to turn the hearts of the fathers to the children, and the disobedient to walk in the wisdom of the just; to make ready for the Lord a people prepared for him.
