1 Dies ist die Geschichte von Jesus Christus. Jesus ist ein Ur-ur-ur-und-so-weiter-Enkel von David und Abraham. Seine genaue Vorfahrenreihe sieht so aus:

17 Zahlensymbole sind wichtig! Darum: Von Abraham bis zum König David waren es vierzehn Generationen. Und auch von David bis zur Verschleppung nach Babylon waren es vierzehn Generationen und von der Zeit bis zu Christus noch mal vierzehn. Wer zählen kann, merkt, dass Maria in der letzten Gruppe der 14 mitgezählt wird! Warum das so ist, wird ab V. 18 erläutert.

17 So all the generations from Abraham unto David are fourteen generations; and from David unto the carrying away to Babylon fourteen generations; and from the carrying away to Babylon unto the Christ fourteen generations.
