37 And so Pilate said to him, Then thou art a king. Jesus answered, Thou sayest, that I am a king. To this thing I am born, and to this I came into the world, to bear witnessing to truth. Each [man] that is of truth, heareth my voice.
38 Pilate saith to him, What is truth? And when he had said this thing, again he went out to the Jews, and said to them, I find no cause in him [or against him].
37 Pilate therefore said unto him, Art thou a king then? Jesus answered, Thou sayest that I am a king. To this end was I born, and for this cause came I into the world, that I should bear witness unto the truth. Every one that is of the truth heareth my voice. 38 Pilate saith unto him, What is truth? And when he had said this, he went out again unto the Jews, and saith unto them, I find in him no fault at all.
37 "You are a king, then!" said Pilate.
Jesus answered, "You say that I am a king. In fact, the reason I was born and came into the world is to testify to the truth. Everyone on the side of truth listens to me."
38 "What is truth?" retorted Pilate. With this he went out again to the Jews gathered there and said, "I find no basis for a charge against him.
37 Then Pilate said to him, "So you are a king?" Jesus answered, See Luke 22:70"You say that I am a king. [ch. 12:27;Rom. 14:9] For this purpose I was born and for this purpose ch. 16:28I have come into the world—ch. 3:11,32;5:31;8:13,14,18to bear witness to the truth. 1 John 4:6;[ch. 8:47] Everyone who is 1 John 2:21;3:19of the truth ch. 10:16,27listens to my voice."38 Pilate said to him, "What is truth?"
After he had said this, ch. 19:4he went back outside to the Jews and told them, ch. 19:4,6;See Luke 23:4"I find no guilt in him.
37 Pilate said, "So you are a king?"
Jesus responded, "You say I am a king. Actually, I was born and came into the world to testify to the truth. All who love the truth recognize that what I say is true."
38 "What is truth?" Pilate asked. Then he went out again to the people and told them, "He is not guilty of any crime.
37 Pilate therefore said to Him, "Are You a king then?"
Jesus answered, "You say rightly that I am a king. For this cause I was born, and for this cause I have come into the world, (Matt. 5:17; 20:28; Luke 4:43; 12:49; 19:10; John 3:17; 9:39; 10:10; 12:47)that I should bear Is. 55:4; Rev. 1:5witness to the truth. Everyone who (John 14:6)is of the truth John 8:47; 10:27; (1 John 3:19; 4:6)hears My voice."
38 Pilate said to Him, "What is truth?" And when he had said this, he went out again to the Jews, and said to them, Is. 53:9; Matt. 27:24; Luke 23:4; John 19:4, 6; 1 Pet. 2:22–24"I find no fault in Him at all.
37 Therefore Pilate said to Him, "So You are a king?" Jesus answered, "You say correctly that I am a king. For this purpose I have been born, and for this I have come into the world: to testify to the truth. Everyone who is of the truth listens to My voice."38 Pilate *said to Him, "What is truth?"
And after saying this, he came out again to the Jews and *said to them, "I find no grounds at all for charges in 18:38 Lit HimHis case.
37 "You are a king then? " Pilate asked.
"You say that I’m a king," Jesus replied. "I was born for this, and I have come into the world 18:37 Jn 1:9; 3:19; 6:14; 9:39; 11:27; 12:46; 16:28; 1Tm 1:15for this: to testify 18:37 Jn 15:26; Ac 26:5to the truth. 18:37 Ps 119:142; 2Th 2:10Everyone who is of the truth listens to my voice."
38 "What is truth? " said Pilate.
After he had said this, he went out to the Jews again and told them, "I find no grounds 18:38 Mt 27:37; Mk 15:26; Jn 19:4,6; Ac 13:28; 23:28; 25:18; 28:18 for charging him.
37 Pilate therefore said to him: Art thou a king then? Jesus answered: Thou sayest that I am a king. For this was I born, and for this came I into the world; that I should give testimony to the truth. Every one that is of the truth, heareth my voice. 38 Pilate saith to him: What is truth? And when he said this, he went out again to the Jews, and saith to them: I find no cause in him.
