6 if anyone is blameless, the husband of one wife, having children who believe, who are not accused of loose or unruly behavior. 7 For the overseer must be blameless, as God’s steward, not self-pleasing, not easily angered, not given to wine, not violent, not greedy for dishonest gain; 8 but given to hospitality, a lover of good, sober minded, fair, holy, self-controlled, 9 holding to the faithful word which is according to the teaching, that he may be able to exhort in the sound doctrine, and to convict those who contradict him.

6 [Ne choisissant] aucun homme qui ne soit irrépréhensible, mari d'une seule femme, et dont les enfants soient fidèles, et non accusés de dissolution, ou qui ne se puissent ranger.

7 Car il faut que l'Evêque soit irrépréhensible, comme étant dispensateur dans [la Maison] de Dieu, non adonné à son sens, non colère, non sujet au vin, non batteur, non convoiteux d'un gain déshonnête.

8 Mais hospitalier, aimant les gens de bien, sage, juste, saint, continent;

9 Retenant ferme la parole de la vérité comme elle lui a été enseignée, afin qu'il soit capable tant d'exhorter par la saine doctrine, que de convaincre les contredisants.
