1 In his days Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon came up, and Jehoiakim became his servant three years. Then he turned and rebelled against him. 2 Yahweh sent against him bands of the Chaldeans, bands of the Syrians, bands of the Moabites, and bands of the children of Ammon, and sent them against Judah to destroy it, according to Yahweh’s word which he spoke by his servants the prophets. 3 Surely at the commandment of Yahweh this came on Judah, to remove them out of his sight for the sins of Manasseh, according to all that he did, 4 and also for the innocent blood that he shed; for he filled Jerusalem with innocent blood, and Yahweh would not pardon. 5 Now the rest of the acts of Jehoiakim, and all that he did, aren’t they written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Judah? 6 So Jehoiakim slept with his fathers, and Jehoiachin his son reigned in his place.

7 The king of Egypt didn’t come out of his land any more; for the king of Babylon had taken, from the brook of Egypt to the river Euphrates, all that belonged to the king of Egypt.

8 Jehoiachin was eighteen years old when he began to reign, and he reigned in Jerusalem three months. His mother’s name was Nehushta the daughter of Elnathan of Jerusalem. 9 He did that which was evil in Yahweh’s sight, according to all that his father had done. 10 At that time the servants of Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon came up to Jerusalem, and the city was besieged. 11 Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon came to the city while his servants were besieging it, 12 and Jehoiachin the king of Judah went out to the king of Babylon—he, his mother, his servants, his princes, and his officers; and the king of Babylon captured him in the eighth year of his reign. 13 He carried out from there all the treasures of Yahweh’s house and the treasures of the king’s house, and cut in pieces all the vessels of gold which Solomon king of Israel had made in Yahweh’s temple, as Yahweh had said. 14 He carried away all Jerusalem, and all the princes, and all the mighty men of valor, even ten thousand captives, and all the craftsmen and the smiths. No one remained except the poorest people of the land. 15 He carried away Jehoiachin to Babylon, with the king’s mother, the king’s wives, his officers, and the chief men of the land. He carried them into captivity from Jerusalem to Babylon. 16 All the men of might, even seven thousand, and the craftsmen and the smiths one thousand, all of them strong and fit for war, even them the king of Babylon brought captive to Babylon. 17 The king of Babylon made Mattaniah, Jehoiachin’s father’s brother, king in his place, and changed his name to Zedekiah.

18 Zedekiah was twenty-one years old when he began to reign, and he reigned eleven years in Jerusalem. His mother’s name was Hamutal the daughter of Jeremiah of Libnah. 19 He did that which was evil in Yahweh’s sight, according to all that Jehoiakim had done. 20 For through the anger of Yahweh, this happened in Jerusalem and Judah, until he had cast them out from his presence.

Then Zedekiah rebelled against the king of Babylon.

1 Foi durante o reinado de Jeoaquim que Nabucodonosor, rei da Babilônia, veio contra Judá. Durante três anos, Jeoaquim foi servo de Nabucodonosor, mas depois se revoltou contra ele. 2 O Senhor enviou contra Jeoaquim bandos de caldeus, sírios, moabitas e amonitas. Ele os enviou contra Judá para destruir o povo, conforme a palavra que o Senhor tinha falado por meio dos seus servos, os profetas. 3 Na verdade, isto aconteceu com Judá por ordem do Senhor, que removeu o povo da sua presença, por causa de todos os pecados cometidos por Manassés 4 e também por causa do sangue inocente que ele derramou, com o qual encheu a cidade de Jerusalém; por isso, o Senhor não quis perdoar.

5 Quanto aos demais atos de Jeoaquim e a tudo o que fez, não está tudo escrito no Livro da História dos Reis de Judá? 6 Jeoaquim morreu, e Joaquim, seu filho, reinou em seu lugar.

7 O rei do Egito nunca mais saiu da sua terra, porque o rei da Babilônia tomou tudo o que era dele, desde o ribeiro do Egito até o rio Eufrates.

8 Joaquim tinha dezoito anos de idade quando começou a reinar e reinou três meses em Jerusalém. A mãe dele se chamava Neústa e era filha de Elnatã, de Jerusalém. 9 Joaquim fez o que era mau aos olhos do Senhor, como o seu pai havia feito antes dele.

10 Naquele tempo, os servos de Nabucodonosor, rei da Babilônia, subiram a Jerusalém, e a cidade foi cercada. 11 Nabucodonosor, rei da Babilônia, veio à cidade, quando os seus servos a sitiavam. 12 Então Joaquim, rei de Judá, acompanhado de sua mãe, seus servos, seus príncipes e seus oficiais, se entregou ao rei da Babilônia; e o rei da Babilônia, no oitavo ano do seu reinado, o levou cativo. 13 Levou dali todos os tesouros da Casa do Senhor e os tesouros do palácio real. E, conforme o Senhor tinha dito, cortou em pedaços todos os utensílios de ouro que Salomão, rei de Israel, tinha feito para o templo do Senhor. 14 Nabucodonosor levou cativa toda Jerusalém, bem como todos os príncipes, todos os homens valentes, todos os artífices e ferreiros, ao todo dez mil; ninguém ficou, a não ser o povo pobre da terra. 15 Levou cativos de Jerusalém para a Babilônia o rei Joaquim, a mãe do rei, as mulheres deste, seus oficiais e os homens principais da terra. 16 O rei da Babilônia levou cativos para a Babilônia todos os homens valentes, em número de sete mil, e ainda mil artífices e ferreiros, todos eles treinados para a guerra.

17 O rei da Babilônia constituiu rei, em lugar de Joaquim, o tio paterno deste, Matanias, e mudou o nome dele para Zedequias.

18 Zedequias tinha vinte e um anos de idade quando começou a reinar e reinou onze anos em Jerusalém. A mãe dele se chamava Hamutal e era filha de Jeremias, de Libna. 19 Zedequias fez o que era mau aos olhos do Senhor, segundo tudo o que Joaquim havia feito.

20 Foi por causa da ira do Senhor contra Jerusalém e contra Judá que isto aconteceu, a ponto de os rejeitar de sua presença. Zedequias rebelou-se contra o rei da Babilônia.
