1 After these things, Jesus went away to the other side of the sea of Galilee, which is also called the Sea of Tiberias. 2 A great multitude followed him, because they saw his signs which he did on those who were sick. 3 Jesus went up into the mountain, and he sat there with his disciples. 4 Now the Passover, the feast of the Jews, was at hand. 5 Jesus therefore, lifting up his eyes and seeing that a great multitude was coming to him, said to Philip, "Where are we to buy bread, that these may eat?" 6 He said this to test him, for he himself knew what he would do.
7 Philip answered him, "Two hundred denarii worth of bread is not sufficient for them, that every one of them may receive a little."
8 One of his disciples, Andrew, Simon Peter’s brother, said to him, 9 "There is a boy here who has five barley loaves and two fish, but what are these among so many?"
10 Jesus said, "Have the people sit down." Now there was much grass in that place. So the men sat down, in number about five thousand. 11 Jesus took the loaves, and having given thanks, he distributed to the disciples, and the disciples to those who were sitting down, likewise also of the fish as much as they desired. 12 When they were filled, he said to his disciples, "Gather up the broken pieces which are left over, that nothing be lost." 13 So they gathered them up, and filled twelve baskets with broken pieces from the five barley loaves, which were left over by those who had eaten. 14 When therefore the people saw the sign which Jesus did, they said, "This is truly the prophet who comes into the world."
1 Rồi đó, Đức Chúa Jêsus qua bờ bên kia biển Ga-li-lê, là biển Ti-bê-ri-át.
2 Một đoàn dân đông theo Ngài, vì từng thấy các phép lạ Ngài làm cho những kẻ bịnh.
3 Nhưng Đức Chúa Jêsus lên trên núi, ngồi đó với môn đồ.
4 Vả, lễ Vượt Qua, là lễ của đến Giu-đa gần tới.
5 Đức Chúa Jêsus ngước mắt lên, thấy một đoàn dân đông đến cùng mình, bèn phán với Phi-líp rằng: Chúng ta sẽ mua bánh ở đâu, để cho dân nầy có mà ăn?
6 Ngài phán điều đó đặng thử Phi-líp, chớ Ngài đã biết điều Ngài sẽ làm rồi.
7 Phi-líp thưa rằng: Hai trăm đơ-ni-ê bánh không đủ phát cho mỗi người một ít.
8 Một môn đồ, là Anh-rê, em của Si-môn Phi -e-rơ, thưa rằng:
9 Đây có một đứa con trai, có năm cái bánh mạch nha và hai con cá; nhưng đông người dường nầy, thì ngằn ấy có thấm vào đâu?
10 Đức Chúa Jêsus bèn phán rằng: Hãy truyền cho chúng ngồi xuống. Vả, trong nơi đó có nhiều cỏ. Vậy, chúng ngồi xuống, số người ước được năm ngàn.
11 Đức Chúa Jêsus lấy bánh, tạ ơn rồi, bèn phân phát cho những kẻ đã ngồi; Ngài cũng lấy cá phát cho chúng nữa, ai muốn bao nhiêu mặc ý.
12 Khi chúng đã ăn được no nê, Ngài phán với môn đồ rằng: Hãy lượm những miếng còn thừa, hầu cho không mất chút nào.
13 Vậy, môn đồ lượm những miếng thừa của năm cái bánh mạch nha, sau khi người ta đã ăn rồi, chứa đầy mười hai giỏ.
14 Những người đó thấy phép lạ Đức Chúa Jêsus đã làm, thì nói rằng: Người nầy thật là Đấng tiên tri phải đến thế gian.
