Jó 39

1 Knowest thou the time when the wild goats of the rock bring forth? or canst thou mark when the hinds do calve? Vadászol-é prédát a nõstény oroszlánnak, és az oroszlánkölykök éhségét kielégíted-é;
2 Canst thou number the months that they fulfill? or knowest thou the time when they bring forth? Mikor meglapulnak tanyáikon, [és] a bokrok közt lesben vesztegelnek?
3 They bow themselves, they bring forth their young ones, they cast out their sorrows. Ki szerez a hollónak eledelt, mikor a fiai Istenhez kiáltoznak; kóvályognak, mert nincs mit enniök?
4 Their young ones are in good liking, they grow up with corn; they go forth, and return not to them. Tudod-é a kõszáli zergék ellésének idejét; megvigyáztad-é a szarvasok fajzását?
5 Who hath sent out the wild ass free? or who hath loosed the bands of the wild ass? Megszámláltad-é a hónapokat, a meddig vemhesek; tudod-é az ellésök idejét?
6 Whose house I have made the wilderness, and the barren land his dwellings. [Csak] összegörnyednek, elszülik magzataikat, vajudásaiktól []megszabadulnak.
7 He scorneth the multitude of the city, neither regardeth he the crying of the driver. Fiaik meggyarapodnak, a legelõn nagyranõnek, elszélednek és nem térnek vissza hozzájok.
8 The range of the mountains is his pasture, and he searcheth after every green thing. Ki bocsátotta szabadon a vadszamarat, ki oldozta el e szamárnak kötelét,
9 Will the unicorn be willing to serve thee, or abide by thy crib? A melynek házául a pusztát rendelém, és lakóhelyéül a sósföldet?
10 Canst thou bind the unicorn with his band in the furrow? or will he harrow the valleys after thee? Kineveti a városbeli sokadalmat, nem hallja a hajtsár kiáltozását.
11 Wilt thou trust him, because his strength is great? or wilt thou leave thy labor to him? A hegyeken szedeget, az õ legelõjén mindenféle zöld [gazt] felkeres.
12 Wilt thou believe him, that he will bring home thy seed, and gather it into thy barn? Akar-é szolgálni néked a bölény? Avagy meghál-é a te jászolodnál?
13 Gavest thou the goodly wings to the peacocks? or wings and feathers to the ostrich! Oda kötheted a bölényt a barázdához kötelénél fogva? Vajjon boronálja-é a völgyeket utánad?
14 Which leaveth her eggs in the earth, and warmeth them in the dust, Bízhatol-é benne, mivelhogy nagy az ereje, és munkádat hagyhatod-é reá?
15 And forgetteth that the foot may crush them, or that the wild beast may break them. Hiszed-é róla, hogy vetésedet behordja, és szérûdre betakarítja?
16 She is hardened against her young ones, as though they were not hers: her labor is in vain without fear; Vígan [leng] a struczmadár szárnya: vajjon az eszterág szárnya és tollazata-é az?
17 Because God hath withheld wisdom from her, neither hath he imparted to her understanding. Hiszen a földön hagyja tojásait, és a porral költeti ki!
18 When she lifteth herself on high, she scorneth the horse and his rider. És elfeledi, hogy a láb eltiporhatja, és a mezei vad eltaposhatja azokat.
19 Hast thou given the horse strength? hast thou clothed his neck with thunder? Fiaival oly keményen bánik, mintha nem is övéi volnának; ha fáradsága kárba vész, nem bánja;
20 Canst thou make him afraid as a grasshopper? the glory of his nostrils is terrible. Mert Isten a bölcseséget elfeledtette vele, értelmet pedig nem adott néki.
21 He paweth in the valley, and rejoiceth in his strength: he goeth on to meet the armed men. De hogyha néki ereszkedik, kineveti a lovat és lovagját.
22 He mocketh at fear, and is not affrighted; neither turneth he back from the sword. Te adsz-é erõt a lónak, avagy a nyakát sörénynyel te ruházod-é fel?
23 The quiver rattleth against him, the glittering spear and the shield. Felugraszthatod-é, mint a sáskát? Tüsszögése dicsõ, félelmetes!
24 He swalloweth the ground with fierceness and rage: neither believeth he that it is the sound of the trumpet. [Lábai] vermet ásnak, örvend erejének, a fegyver elé rohan.
25 He saith among the trumpets, Ha, ha; and he smelleth the battle afar off, the thunder of the captains, and the shouting. Neveti a félelmet; nem remeg, nem fordul meg a fegyver elõl;
26 Doth the hawk fly by thy wisdom, and stretch her wings towards the south? Csörög rajta a tegez, ragyog a kopja és a dárda:
27 Doth the eagle mount up at thy command, and make her nest on high? Tombolva, nyihogva kapálja a földet, és nem áll veszteg, ha trombita zeng.
28 She dwelleth and abideth on the rock, upon the crag of the rock, and the strong place. A trombitaszóra nyerítéssel felel; messzirõl megneszeli az ütközetet, a vezérek lármáját és a csatazajt.
29 From thence she seeketh the prey, and her eyes behold afar off. A te értelmed miatt van-é, hogy az ölyv repül, [és] kiterjeszti szárnyait dél felé?
30 Her young ones also suck up blood: and where the slain are, there is she. A te rendelésedre száll-é fent a sas, és rakja-é fészkét a magasban? [ (Job 39:31) A kõsziklán lakik és tanyázik, a sziklák párkányain és bércztetõkön. ] [ (Job 39:32) Onnét kémlel enni való után, messzire ellátnak szemei. ] [ (Job 39:33) Fiai vért szívnak, és a hol dög van, mindjárt ott [terem.] ] [ (Job 39:34) Szóla továbbá az Úr Jóbnak, és monda: ] [ (Job 39:35) A ki pert kezd a Mindenhatóval, czáfolja meg, és a ki az Istennel feddõdik, feleljen néki! ] [ (Job 39:36) És szóla Jób az Úrnak, és monda: ] [ (Job 39:37) Ímé, én parányi vagyok, mit feleljek néked? Kezemet a szájamra teszem. ] [ (Job 39:38) Egyszer szóltam, de már nem szólok, avagy kétszer, de nem teszem többé! ]
