O que é a alma na Bíblia
Na Bíblia, a alma é a totalidade da vida humana, a sede dos afetos, da vontade e da consciência diante do Criador. Mais do que uma centelha abstrata desvinculada do corpo, os termos bíblicos — néfesh no Antigo Testamento e psyche no Novo — descrevem a pessoa viva em sua inteireza, com seus anseios, fragilidades e capacidade de se relacionar com Deus.
A alma que busca e descansa em Deus
Nos Salmos, a alma expressa a experiência humana real: a sede espiritual em meio às dificuldades, a luta contra o abatimento e a decisão de confiar no socorro divino. O salmista ensina a orientar a própria alma em direção à fidelidade e à palavra de Deus.
Bless the LORD-Yehōvah [Messiah Pre-Incarnate], O my soul: and all that is within me, [bless] his holy name.(Tehillim - Psalms 103:1)
O God-Elōhīm (The Living Word) [The Many Powered], youi [are] my God-Elōhīm (The Living Word) [The Many Powered]; early will I seek youi: my soul thirsts for youi, my flesh longs for youi in a dry and thirsty land, where no water is;(Tehillim - Psalms 63:1)
Why are youi cast down, O my soul? and why are youi disquieted within me? hope youi in God-Elōhīm (The Living Word) [The Many Powered]: for I shall yet praise him, [who is] the health of my Countenance (Face, appearance; show favor), and my God-Elōhīm (The Living Word) [The Many Powered].(Tehillim - Psalms 42:11)
Truly my soul waits upon God-Elōhīm (The Living Word) [The Many Powered]: from him [cometh] my salvation.(Tehillim - Psalms 62:1)
I wait for the LORD-Yehōvah [Messiah Pre-Incarnate], my soul does wait, and in his word do I hope.(Tehillim - Psalms 130:5)
My lips shall greatly rejoice when I sing unto youi; and my soul, which youi have redeemed.(Tehillim - Psalms 71:23)
The law of the LORD-Yehōvah [Messiah Pre-Incarnate] [is] perfect, converting the soul: the testimony of the LORD-Yehōvah [Messiah Pre-Incarnate] [is] sure, making wise the simple.(Tehillim - Psalms 19:7)
For youi have possessed my reins (literally, kidneys; figuratively, seat of emotion): youi have covered me in my mother’s womb.
I will praise youi; for I am fearfully [and] wonderfully made: marvelous [are] youri works; and [that] my soul knows right well.(Tehillim - Psalms 139:13,14)

O valor e o cuidado com a alma
Jesus ensina que a integridade da alma supera qualquer ganho material terreno. Ao mesmo tempo, a Escritura mostra que amar e buscar a Deus de toda a alma envolve entrega completa, produzindo descanso interior, saúde e estabilidade nas escolhas da vida.
"What profit is there for a man if he should gain the whole world and lose his soul forever; what good exchange does a man make if, for present things that are spoiled, he should give his soul to the judgment of Gei-Hinnom [hell, valley of evil counsel]?"(Gosel 16:26)
He said to him: "Thou shalt love Yehovah [Messiah Pre-Incarnate] your Elohim (The Many Powered) [The Living Word of God] with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your strength".(Gosel 22:37)
"Do not fear those who kill bodies, who have no power to kill souls; but fear The One who has power to destroy the soul and body in Gei-Hinnom [hell, valley of evil counsel]".(Gosel 10:28)
But if from there youi shall seek the LORD-Yehōvah (Messiah Pre-Incarnate) youi God-Elōhīm (The Living Word) [The Many Powered], youi shall find [him], if youi seek him with all youi heart and with all youi soul.(Deuteronomy 4:29)
But take diligent heed to do the commandment and the law, which Moshe [He Who Draws Out Of The Waters] the servant of the LORD-Yehōvah (Messiah Pre-Incarnate) charged you, to love the LORD-Yehōvah (Messiah Pre-Incarnate) your God-Elōhīm (The Living Word) [The Many Powered], and to walk in all his ways, and to keep his commandments, and to cling to (hold onto; stick to) him, and to serve him with all your heart and with all your soul.(Joshua 22:5)
And, behold, this day I [am] going the way of all the earth: and you2f know in all your hearts and in all your souls, that not one thing has failed of all the good things which the LORD-Yehōvah (Messiah Pre-Incarnate) your God-Elōhīm (The Living Word) [The Many Powered] spoke concerning you; all are come to pass unto you, [and] not one thing has failed thereof.(Joshua 23:14)
And you2f shall seek me, and find [me], when you2f shall search for me with all your heart.(Jeremiah 29:13)
Thus says the LORD-Yehōvah (Messiah Pre-Incarnate), Stand you2f in the ways, and see, and ask for the old paths, where [is] the good way, and walk in it, and you2f shall find rest for your souls. But they said, We will not walk [in it].(Jeremiah 6:16)
