13 Brethren, I do not count myself to have apprehended; but one thing Ido,*forgetting those things which are behind and *reaching forward to those things which are ahead, 14 *I press toward the goal for the prize of *the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.

Pressing Toward the Goal

12 Not that I have already *attained, or am already *perfected; but I press on, that I may lay hold of that for which Christ Jesus has also laid hold of me. 13 Brethren, I do not count myself to have apprehended; but one thing Ido,*forgetting those things which are behind and *reaching forward to those things which are ahead, 14 *I press toward the goal for the prize of *the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.

15 Therefore let us, as many as are *mature, *have this mind; and if in anything you think otherwise, *God will reveal even this to you.

17 Therefore, if anyone *is in Christ, heis*a new creation; *old things have passed away; behold, all things have become *new.

A Heavenly Inheritance

3 *Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who *according to His abundant mercy *has begotten us again to a living hope *through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead,

10 *Create in me a clean heart, O God,

And renew a steadfast spirit within me.

11 Do not cast me away from Your presence,

And do not take Your *Holy Spirit from me.

7 Rest in the Lord, *and wait patiently for Him;

Do not fret because of him who *prospers in his way,

Because of the man who brings wicked schemes to pass.

8 Oh, *taste and see that the Lordis good;

*Blessed is the man who trusts in Him!

31 But those who *wait on the Lord

*Shall renew their strength;

They shall mount up with wings like eagles,

They shall run and not be weary,

They shall walk and not faint.

11 For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the Lord, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope.

25 *Then I will sprinkle clean water on you, and you shall be clean; I will cleanse you *from all your filthiness and from all your idols. 26 I will give you a *new heart and put a new spirit within you; I will take the heart of stone out of your flesh and give you a heart of flesh. 27 I will put My *Spirit within you and cause you to walk in My statutes, and you will keep My judgments and do them.

14 *But above all these things *put on love, which is the *bond of perfection. 15 And let *the peace of God rule in your hearts, *to which also you were called *in one body; and *be thankful.

11 He has made everything beautiful in its time. Also He has put eternity in their hearts, except that *no one can find out the work that God does from beginning to end.

10 For they indeed for a few days chastened us as seemed best to them, but He for our profit, *that we may be partakers of His holiness. 11 Now no chastening seems to be joyful for the present, but painful; nevertheless, afterward it yields *the peaceable fruit of righteousness to those who have been trained by it.

Do Not Boast About Tomorrow

13 Come now, you who say, "Today or tomorrow we will go to such and such a city, spend a year there, buy and sell, and make a profit"; 14 whereas you do not know what willhappen tomorrow. For what is your life? *It is even a vapor that appears for a little time and then vanishes away. 15 Instead you ought to say, *"If the Lord wills, we shall live and do this or that." 16 But now you boast in your arrogance. *All such boasting is evil.

17 Therefore, *to him who knows to do good and does not do it, to him it is sin.
