O que é a carne na Bíblia e como vencê-la
Na teologia bíblica, a palavra carne quase sempre se refere à natureza humana inclinada ao pecado e hostil a Deus, e não apenas à matéria física do corpo. Trata-se da disposição egoísta herdada da queda, que busca satisfazer apetites e viver de maneira independente da vontade divina.
Vale notar a distinção: o corpo em si foi criado por Deus e é bom, mas a "carne", no sentido espiritual usado especialmente pelo apóstolo Paulo, representa o padrão decaído de pensamento e ação que resiste ao Espírito Santo.
O conflito entre a natureza humana e o Espírito
A Escritura descreve a vida humana fora de Cristo como dominada pelos desejos da carne. Esse estado não gera comunhão com o Criador, pois a mente controlada por essa inclinação é incapaz de agradar a Deus por esforço próprio. Em Romanos, Paulo detalha a luta interior onde o querer o bem não se traduz em prática sem o poder do Espírito.
That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit [Ruach] is Spirit [Ruach].(John 3:6)
It is the Spirit [Ruach] that quickens; the flesh profits nothing: the words that I speak unto you, [they] are Spirit [Ruach], and [they] are life.(John 6:63)
For when we were in the flesh, the motions of sins, which were by the law, did work in our members to bring forth fruit unto death.(Romans 7:5)
I find then a law, that, when I would do good, evil is present with me.
For I delight in the law of God-The Father after the inward man:
But I see another law in my members, warring against the law of my mind, and bringing me into captivity to the law of sin which is in my members.(Romans 7:21-23)
[There is] therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Moshiach [Messiah] Yeshua [God is Salvation], who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit [Ruach].
For the law of the Spirit [Ruach] of life in Moshiach [Messiah] Yeshua [God is Salvation] has made me free from the law of sin and death.
For what the law could not do, in that it was weak through the flesh, God-The Father sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, and for sin, condemned sin in the flesh:
That the righteousness of the law might be fulfilled in us, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit [Ruach].(Romans 8:1-4)
For they that are after the flesh do mind the things of the flesh; but they that are after the Spirit [Ruach] the things of the Spirit [Ruach].
For to be carnally minded [is] death; but to be spiritually minded [is] life and peace.
Because the carnal (of the flesh, sensual) mind [is] hatred (being an enemy) against God-The Father: for it is not subject to the law of God-The Father, neither indeed can be.
So then they that are in the flesh cannot please God-The Father.(Romans 8:5-8)
But you2f are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit [Ruach], if so be that the Spirit [Ruach] of God-The Father dwell in you. Now if any man have not the Spirit [Ruach] of Moshiach [Messiah], he is none of his.(Romans 8:9)
For if you2f live after the flesh, you2f shall die: but if you2f through the Spirit [Ruach] do mortify (put to death; remove the life of) the deeds of the body, you2f shall live.
For as many as are led by the Spirit [Ruach] of God-The Father, they are the sons of God-The Father.(Romans 8:13,14)
Como a Escritura ensina a vencer a carne
A superação das inclinações da carne não acontece por mero controle moral, mas pelo domínio do Espírito na vida do crente. O Novo Testamento ensina que quem pertence a Cristo considera essa velha natureza crucificada, escolhendo não usar a liberdade cristã como desculpa para o egoísmo, mas como serviço e vigilância diária.
"Watch and pray lest you enter into temptation, because truly the Spirit [Ruach] is ready to go to its creator, but the flesh is weak and sick".(Gosel 26:41)
For, brethren, you2f have been called unto liberty; only [use] not liberty for an occasion to the flesh, but by love serve one another.(Galatians 5:13)
[This] I say then, Walk in the Spirit [Ruach], and you2f shall not fulfill the lust of the flesh.(Galatians 5:16)
Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are [these]; Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness (being lustful, loose or lewd; promoting lustful desires in others),
Idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, disagreement (dissension), emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies,
Envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told [you] in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God-The Father.(Galatians 5:19-21)
And they that are Moshiach [Messiah]’s have crucified the flesh with the passions and lusts.(Galatians 5:24)
For he that sows to his flesh shall of the flesh reap corruption; but he that sows to the Spirit [Ruach] shall of the Spirit [Ruach] reap life everlasting.(Galatians 6:8)
In whom also you2f are circumcised with the circumcision made without hands, in putting off the body of the sins of the flesh by the circumcision of Moshiach [Messiah]:(Colossians 2:11)
Now this I say, brethren, that flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God-The Father; neither does corruption inherit incorruption.(1 Corinthians 15:50)
For all that [is] in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world.(1 John 2:16)
