Deus nos chamou antes da fundação do mundo. Ele nos conhece pelo nome, nos predestinou para sermos conforme a imagem de Cristo e nos capacita para o chamado.
Chamados por Deus
Os que Deus predestinou, também os chamou. O Seu chamado é irrevogável — fundamentado no propósito eterno e na graça abundante.
28 And we have known that to those loving God all things do work together for good, to those who are called according to purpose;29 because whom He did foreknow, He also did fore-appoint, conformed to the image of His Son, that he might be first-born among many brethren;30 and whom He did fore-appoint, these also He did call; and whom He did call, these also He declared righteous; and whom He declared righteous, these also He did glorify.
18 the eyes of your understanding MT reads hearts being having been enlightened, for your knowing what is the hope of His calling, and what the riches of the glory of His inheritance in the saints,19 and what the exceeding greatness excelling magnitude of His power to us who are believing, according to the working of the power of His might,
8 therefore you may not be ashamed of the testimony of our Lord, nor of me his prisoner, but do you suffer evil along with the good news according to the power of God,9 who did save us, and did call with an holy calling, not according to our works, but according to His own purpose and grace, that was given to us in Christ Jesus, before the times of the ages,10 and was made manifest now through the manifestation of our Saviour Jesus Christ, who indeed did abolish death, and did enlighten life and immortality through the good news,
10 And the God of all grace, who did call you to His age-during glory in Christ Jesus, having suffered a little, Himself make you perfect, establish, strengthen, settle you;
A resposta ao chamado
Ninguém pode vir a mim se o Pai não o atrair. Deus escolheu os fracos para confundir os fortes — e nos chamou para a luz.
44 no one is able to come unto me, if the Father who sent me may not draw him, and I will raise him up in the last day;
26 for see your calling, brethren, that not many are wise according to the flesh, not many mighty, not many noble;27 but the foolish things of the world did God choose, that the wise He may put to shame; and the weak things of the world did God choose that He may put to shame the strong;
5 Hearken, my brethren beloved, did not God choose the poor of this world, rich in faith, and heirs of the reign that He promised to those loving Him?
13 who did rescue us out of the authority of the darkness, and did translate us into the reign of the Son of His love,14 in whom we have the redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of the sins,
38 and Peter said unto them, 'Reform, and be baptized each of you on the name of Jesus Christ, to remission of sins, and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit,39 for to you is the promise, and to your children, and to all those afar off, as many as the Lord our God shall call.'
Confirmando o chamado
Procurai tornar cada vez mais firme a vossa vocação. Deus começou a boa obra e a completará até o dia de Cristo.
10 therefore, the rather, brethren, be diligent to make stedfast your calling and choice, for these things doing, you may never stumble,11 for so, richly shall be superadded to you the entrance into the age-during reign of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.
6 having been confident of this very thing, that He who did begin in you a good work, will perform it till a day of Jesus Christ,
14 for many are called, and few chosen.'
