O pai que educa
Instrui a criança no caminho em que deve andar. O pai justo educa com amor, firmeza e o exemplo de uma vida íntegra.
Train up a child in the way he should go,
And when he is old he will not depart from it.
He who spares his rod hates his son,
But he who loves him disciplines him promptly.
The righteous man walks in his integrity;
His children are blessed after him.
The father of the righteous will greatly rejoice,
And he who begets a wise child will delight in him.
In the fear of the Lordthereis strong confidence,
And His children will have a place of refuge.
Honra e alegria
Honra a teu pai e tua mãe. Os filhos são herança do Senhor, e a família que serve a Deus junta é inabalável.
"Honor your father and your mother, that your days may be long upon the land which the Lord your God is giving you.
Behold, children are a heritage from the Lord,
The fruit of the womb is a reward.
Like arrows in the hand of a warrior,
So are the children of one’s youth.
Happy is the man who has his quiver full of them;
They shall not be ashamed,
But shall speak with their enemies in the gate.
And if it seems evil to you to serve the Lord, choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve, whether the gods which your fathers served that were on the other side of the River, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land you dwell. But as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord."
Final Exhortations
Watch, stand fast in the faith, be brave, be strong.
"And he arose and came to his father. But when he was still a great way off, his father saw him and had compassion, and ran and fell on his neck and kissed him.And the son said to him, ‘Father, I have sinned against heaven and in your sight, and am no longer worthy to be called your son.’
"But the father said to his servants, ‘Bring out the best robe and put it on him, and put a ring on his hand and sandals on his feet.And bring the fatted calf here and kill it, and let us eat and be merry;
