Direct your children onto the right path,
and when they are older, they will not leave it.
Those who spare the rod of discipline hate their children.
Those who love their children care enough to discipline them.
The godly walk with integrity;
blessed are their children who follow them.
The father of godly children has cause for joy.
What a pleasure to have children who are wise.
Those who fear the Lord are secure;
he will be a refuge for their children.
Honra e alegria
Honra a teu pai e tua mãe. Os filhos são herança do Senhor, e a família que serve a Deus junta é inabalável.
"Honor your father and mother. Then you will live a long, full life in the land the Lord your God is giving you.
Children are a gift from the Lord;
they are a reward from him.
Children born to a young man
are like arrows in a warrior’s hands.
How joyful is the man whose quiver is full of them!
He will not be put to shame when he confronts his accusers at the city gates.
But if you refuse to serve the Lord, then choose today whom you will serve. Would you prefer the gods your ancestors served beyond the Euphrates? Or will it be the gods of the Amorites in whose land you now live? But as for me and my family, we will serve the Lord."
Be on guard. Stand firm in the faith. Be courageous. Be strong.
