A Bíblia não trata o endividamento como pecado em si, mas adverte que a dívida tira a tranquilidade e compromete a liberdade de quem toma emprestado. O conselho das Escrituras é claro: evitar dívidas desnecessárias, pagar pontualmente tudo o que se deve e planejar a vida financeira com prudência.
The rich rules over the poor, and the borrower [is] servant to the lender.(Mishlei - Proverbs 22:7)
