3 Behold, *children are a heritage from the Lord,

*The fruit of the womb is a *reward.

4 Like arrows in the hand of a warrior,

So are the children of one’s youth.

5 *Happy is the man who has his quiver full of them;

*They shall not be ashamed,

But shall speak with their enemies in the gate.

Blessings of Those Who Fear the Lord

1 Blessed *is every one who fears the Lord,

Who walks in His ways.

2 *When you eat the labor of your hands,

You shallbe happy, and itshallbe*well with you.

3 Your wife shallbe*like a fruitful vine

In the very heart of your house,

Your *children *like olive plants

All around your table.

4 Behold, thus shall the man be blessed

Who fears the Lord.

Blessings of Those Who Fear the Lord

1 Blessed *is every one who fears the Lord,

Who walks in His ways.

12 That our sons maybe*as plants grown up in their youth;

That our daughters maybe as pillars,

Sculptured in palace style;

2 *His descendants will be mighty on earth;

The generation of the upright will be blessed.

28 Then God blessed them, and God said to them, *"Be fruitful and multiply; fill the earth and *subdue it; have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over every living thing that moves on the earth."

4 "Blessed shallbe*the fruit of your body, the produce of your ground and the increase of your herds, the increase of your cattle and the offspring of your flocks.

14 You shall be blessed above all peoples; there shall not be a male or female *barren among you or among your livestock.

6 *Train up a child in the way he should go,

And when he is old he will not depart from it.

15 Foolishness is bound up in the heart of a child;

*The rod of correction will drive it far from him.

24 *He who spares his rod hates his son,

But he who loves him disciplines him promptly.

15 The rod and rebuke give *wisdom,

But a child left tohimself brings shame to his mother.

13 *Do not withhold correction from a child,

For if you beat him with a rod, he will not die.

Security in Wisdom

1 Hear, *my children, the instruction of a father,

And give attention to know understanding;

Wise Sayings of Solomon

1 The proverbs of *Solomon:

*A wise son makes a glad father,

But a foolish son is the grief of his mother.

6 "And *these words which I command you today shall be in your heart. 7 *You shall teach them diligently to your children, and shall talk of them when you sit in your house, when you walk by the way, when you lie down, and when you rise up.

14 But when Jesus saw it, He was greatly displeased and said to them, "Let the little children come to Me, and do not forbid them; for *of such is the kingdom of God.

11 If you then, *being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father who is in heaven give good things to those who ask Him!

52 And Jesus *increased in wisdom and stature, *and in favor with God and men.

13 *As a father pities his children,

So the Lord pities those who fear Him.

1 Behold *what manner of love the Father has bestowed on us, that *we should be called children of God! Therefore the world does not know us, *because it did not know Him.

24 "The Lord*bless you and *keep you;

25 The Lord*make His face shine upon you,

And *be gracious to you;

26 *The Lord lift up His countenance upon you,

And *give you peace." ’

28 Therefore may *God give you

Of *the dew of heaven,

Of *the fatness of the earth,

And *plenty of grain and wine.

29 *Let peoples serve you,

And nations bow down to you.

Be master over your brethren,

And *let your mother’s sons bow down to you.

*Cursed be everyone who curses you,

And blessed be those who bless you!"

3 For I will pour water on him who is thirsty,

And floods on the dry ground;

I will pour My Spirit on your descendants,

And My blessing on your offspring;

4 They will spring up among the grass

Like willows by the watercourses.’

13 All your children shallbe*taught by the Lord,

And *great shallbe the peace of your children.

5 "Before I *formed you in the womb *I knew you;

Before you were born I *sanctified you;

I ordained you a prophet to the nations."

38 They shall be *My people, and I will be their God; 39 then I will *give them one heart and one way, that they may fear Me forever, for the good of them and their children after them.

13 For You formed my inward parts;

You covered me in my mother’s womb.

14 I will praise You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made;

Marvelous are Your works,

And that my soul knows very well.

15 *My frame was not hidden from You,

When I was made in secret,

And skillfully wrought in the lowest parts of the earth.

16 Your eyes saw my substance, being yet unformed.

And in Your book they all were written,

The days fashioned for me,

When asyettherewere none of them.

10 I was cast upon You from birth.

From My mother’s womb

*You havebeen My God.

25 I have been young, and now am old;

Yet I have not seen the righteous forsaken,

Nor his descendants begging bread.

26 *Heis ever merciful, and lends;

And his descendants are blessed.

4 *We will not hide them from their children,

*Telling to the generation to come the praises of the Lord,

And His strength and His wonderful works that He has done.

6 *Children’s children are the crown of old men,

And the glory of children is their father.

7 *The righteous man walks in his integrity;

*His children are blessed after him.

Children and Parents

1 Children, *obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right. 2 *"Honor your father and mother," which is the first commandment with promise: 3 "that it may be well with you and you may live long on the earth."

4 And *you, fathers, do not provoke your children to wrath, but *bring them up in the training and admonition of the Lord.

20 *Children, obey your parents *in all things, for this is well pleasing to the Lord.

21 *Fathers, do not provoke your children, lest they become discouraged.

12 *"Honor your father and your mother, that your days may be *long upon the land which the Lord your God is giving you.

7 *If you endure chastening, God deals with you as with sons; for what *son is there whom a father does not chasten? 8 But if you are without chastening, *of which all have become partakers, then you are illegitimate and not sons.

4 But if any widow has children or grandchildren, let them first learn to show piety at home and *to repay their parents; for this is good and acceptable before God.

21 *A woman, when she is in labor, has sorrow because her hour has come; but as soon as she has given birth to the child, she no longer remembers the anguish, for joy that a human being has been born into the world.

39 *‘Moreover your little ones and your children, who *you say will be victims, who today *have no knowledge of good and evil, they shall go in there; to them I will give it, and they shall possess it.
