14 This good news of the kingdom will be proclaimed in all the world*as a testimony to all nations,*and then the end will come.*

29 "Immediately after the distress*of those days, the sun will be darkened, and the moon will not shed its light; the stars will fall from the sky, and the powers of the heavens will be shaken.30 Then the sign of the Son of Man will appear in the sky, and then all the peoples of the earth*will mourn;*and they will see the Son of Man coming on the clouds of heaven with power and great glory.*31 He will send out his angels with a loud trumpet,*and they will gather his elect from the four winds,*from one end of the sky to the other.

42 Therefore be alert, since you don’t know what day*your Lord is coming.*43 But know this: If the homeowner had known what time*the thief was coming, he would have stayed alert and not let his house be broken into.*44 This is why you are also to be ready, because the Son of Man is coming at an hour you do not expect.*

20 teaching them to observe everything I have commanded you. And remember,*I am with you always,*to the end of the age."*

32 "Now concerning that day*or hour no one knows — neither the angels*in heaven nor the Son*— but only the Father.*

1 But know this: Hard times will come in the last days.  *2 For people will be lovers of self,  * lovers of money,  * boastful, proud,  * demeaning, disobedient to parents, ungrateful, unholy,  *3 unloving, irreconcilable, slanderers,  * without self-control, brutal, without love for what is good,  *4 traitors,  * reckless,  * conceited,  * lovers of pleasure  * rather than lovers of God, 5 holding to the form of godliness but denying its power.  * Avoid these people.  *

17 And it will be in the last days, says God,

that I will pour out my Spirit on all people;

then your sons and your daughters will prophesy,

your young men will see visions,

and your old men will dream dreams.*

18 I will even pour out my Spirit

on my servants in those days, both men and women

and they will prophesy.  *

19 I will display wonders in the heaven  above

and signs on the earth  below:

blood and fire and a cloud of smoke.

20 The sun will be turned to darkness

and the moon to blood*

before the great and glorious day of the Lord*  comes.

21 Then everyone who calls

on the name of the Lord will be saved.*,*

28 After this  *

I will pour out my Spirit  * on all humanity;  *

then your sons and your daughters will prophesy,

your old men will have dreams,

and your young men will see visions.

29 I will even pour out my Spirit

on the male and female slaves in those days.  *

1 At that time

Michael,  * the great prince

who stands watch over your people, will rise up.

There will be a time of distress  *

such as never has occurred  *

since nations came into being until that time.  *

But at that time all your people

who are found written in the book  * will escape.  *

2 Many who sleep in the dust  *

of the earth will awake,

some to eternal life,  *

and some to disgrace and eternal contempt.  *

3 Those who have insight will shine

like the bright expanse of the heavens,  *

and those who lead many to righteousness,  *

like the stars forever and ever.

15 For we say this to you by a word from the Lord:  * We who are still alive at the Lord’s coming  * will certainly not precede those who have fallen asleep.  *16 For the Lord himself will descend from heaven with a shout,  *,* with the archangel’s  * voice, and with the trumpet of God, and the dead in Christ  * will rise first. 17 Then  * we who are still alive, who are left, will be caught up together with them in the clouds  * to meet the Lord in the air, and so we will always be with the Lord. 18 Therefore encourage  * one another with these words.

6 So then, let us not sleep, like the rest, but let us stay awake and be self-controlled. 7 For those who sleep, sleep at night, and those who get drunk, get drunk at night. 8 But since we belong to the day, let us be self-controlled  * and put on the armor  * of faith and love, and a helmet  * of the hope of salvation. 9 For God did not appoint us to wrath, but to obtain salvation through our Lord  * Jesus Christ,  *

34 "Be on your guard,*so that your minds are not dulled*from carousing,*drunkenness,*and worries of life,*or that day will come on you unexpectedly*35 like a trap. For it will come on all who live on the face of the whole earth.36 But be alert at all times,*praying that you may have strength*to escape*all these things that are going to take place and to stand before the Son of Man."

8 Dear friends, don’t overlook this one fact: With the Lord one day is like a thousand years, and a thousand years like one day.  *9 The Lord does not delay his promise,  * as some understand delay, but is patient with you, not wanting any  * to perish  * but all to come to repentance.  *

10 But the day of the Lord  * will come like a thief;  *,* on that day the heavens will pass away  * with a loud noise, the elements will burn and be dissolved,  * and the earth and the works on it will be disclosed.  *,*11 Since all these things are to be dissolved in this way, it is clear what sort of people you should be in holy conduct and godliness 12 as you wait for the day of God and hasten its coming.  *,* Because of that day, the heavens will be dissolved with fire and the elements will melt with heat. 13 But based on his promise, we wait for new heavens and a new earth,  * where righteousness dwells.  *

51 Listen, I am telling you a mystery: We will not all fall asleep, but we will all be changed, 52 in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet.  * For the trumpet will sound, and the dead will be raised incorruptible, and we will be changed.

17 "For I will create new heavens and a new earth;  *

the past events will not be remembered or come to mind.

18 Then be glad and rejoice forever

in what I am creating;

for I will create Jerusalem to be a joy

and its people to be a delight.

19 I will rejoice in Jerusalem

and be glad in my people.

The sound of weeping and crying

will no longer be heard in her.  *

1 "For look, the day is coming, burning like a furnace, when all the arrogant and everyone who commits wickedness will become stubble. The coming day will consume them," says the Lord of Armies, "not leaving them root or branches. 2 But for you who fear my name, the sun of righteousness will rise with healing in its wings,  * and you will go out and playfully jump like calves from the stall.  *

1 Then I saw a new heaven and a new earth;  * for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away,  * and the sea was no more.  *2 I also saw the holy city,  * the new Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God,  * prepared like a bride adorned for her husband.  *

3 Then I heard a loud voice  * from the throne:  *,* Look, God’s dwelling  * is with humanity, and he will live with them. They will be his peoples,  *,* and God himself will be with them and will be their God.  *4 He will wipe away every tear from their eyes.  * Death will be no more;  * grief, crying, and pain will be no more,  * because the previous things  * have passed away.  *
