10 for a root of all the evils is the love of money, which certain longing for did go astray from the faith, and themselves did pierce through with many sorrows;
9 and those wishing to be rich, do fall into temptation and a snare, and many desires, foolish and hurtful, that sink men into ruin and destruction,
24 None is able to serve two lords, for either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will hold to the one, and despise the other; ye are not able to serve God and Mammon.
5 Put to death, then, your members that [are] upon the earth -- whoredom, uncleanness, passion, evil desire, and the covetousness, which is idolatry --
3 and whoredom, and all uncleanness, or covetousness, let it not even be named among you, as becometh saints;
Contentamento
Tende cuidado e guardai-vos de toda espécie de ganância. A vida de um homem não consiste na abundância dos bens que possui.
15 And he said unto them, Observe, and beware of the covetousness, because not in the abundance of ones goods is his life.
36 for what shall it profit a man, if he may gain the whole world, and forfeit his life?
19 Treasure not up to yourselves treasures on the earth, where moth and rust disfigure, and where thieves break through and steal,20 but treasure up to yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust doth disfigure, and where thieves do not break through nor steal,
4 Labour not to make wealth, From thine own understanding cease, Dost thou cause thine eyes to fly upon it? Then it is not.
11 Wealth from vanity becometh little, And whoso is gathering by the hand becometh great.
Riqueza ilusória
As riquezas são passageiras. Quem ama o dinheiro nunca terá o suficiente. O contentamento com o que se tem é verdadeira riqueza.
10 Whoso is loving silver is not satisfied [with] silver, nor he who is in love with stores [with] increase. Even this [is] vanity.
15 As he came out from the belly of his mother, naked he turneth back to go as he came, and he taketh not away anything of his labour, that doth go in his hand.
26 All the day desiring he hath desired, And the righteous giveth and withholdeth not.
6 for because of this also pay ye tribute; for servants of God they are, on this very thing attending continually;
36 Incline my heart unto Thy testimonies, And not unto dishonest gain.
