Humildade
A humildade é o caminho da honra verdadeira. Deus resiste aos soberbos, mas dá graça aos humildes. Jesus lavou os pés dos discípulos e nos ensinou que o maior é aquele que serve.
Humilhar-se diante de Deus
Humilhai-vos diante do Senhor e Ele vos exaltará. Quem se humilha será exaltado, e quem se exalta será humilhado.
10 be made low before the Lord, and He shall exalt you.
6 be humbled, then, under the powerful hand of God, that you He may exalt in good time,
14 and My people on whom My name is called be humbled, and pray, and seek My face, and turn back from their evil ways, then I -- I hear from the heavens, and forgive their sin, and heal their land.
8 Good and upright [is] Jehovah, Therefore He directeth sinners in the way.9 He causeth the humble to tread in judgment, And teacheth the humble His way.
23 The pride of man humbleth him, And humility of spirit upholdeth honour.
12 Before destruction the heart of man is high, And before honour [is] humility.
Humildade como virtude
Considerai os outros como superiores a vós mesmos. Revesti-vos de humildade, mansidão e paciência no trato uns com os outros.
3 nothing in rivalry or vain-glory, but in humility of mind one another counting more excellent than yourselves --
20 and to God, even our Father, [is] the glory -- to the ages of the ages. Amen.
12 Put on, therefore, as choice ones of God, holy and beloved, bowels of mercies, kindness, humble-mindedness, meekness, long-suffering,
2 with all lowliness and meekness, with long-suffering, forbearing one another in love,
13 For ye -- to freedom ye were called, brethren, only not the freedom for an occasion to the flesh, but through the love serve ye one another,
8 And finally, being all of one mind, having fellow-feeling, loving as brethren, compassionate, courteous,
3 whose adorning -- let it not be that which is outward, of plaiting of hair, and of putting around of things of gold, or of putting on of garments,4 but -- the hidden man of the heart, in the incorruptible thing of the meek and quiet spirit, which is, before God, of great price,
O exemplo de Jesus
Aprendei de mim, que sou manso e humilde de coração. O maior entre vós seja o que serve — esse é o caminho do Reino.
29 take up my yoke upon you, and learn from me, because I am meek and humble in heart, and ye shall find rest to your souls,30 for my yoke [is] easy, and my burden is light.
2 whenever, therefore, thou mayest do kindness, thou mayest not sound a trumpet before thee as the hypocrites do, in the synagogues, and in the streets, that they may have glory from men; verily I say to you -- they have their reward!
35 and having sat down he called the twelve, and he saith to them, If any doth will to be first, he shall be last of all, and minister of all.
48 and said to them, Whoever may receive this child in my name, doth receive me, and whoever may receive me, doth receive Him who sent me, for he who is least among you all -- he shall be great.
4 The end of humility [is] the fear of Jehovah, Riches, and honour, and life.
33 The fear of Jehovah [is] the instruction of wisdom, And before honour [is] humility!
2 Pride hath come, and shame cometh, And with the lowly [is] wisdom.
Humildade verdadeira
O que se exige de ti? Praticar a justiça, amar a misericórdia e andar humildemente com teu Deus.
8 He hath declared to thee, O man, what [is] good; Yea, what is Jehovah requiring of thee, Except -- to do judgment, and love kindness, And lowly to walk with thy God?
18 The wives! be subject to your own husbands, as is fit in the Lord;19 the husbands! love your wives, and be not bitter with them;
16 of the same mind one toward another, not minding the high things, but with the lowly going along; become not wise in your own conceit;
28 and the base things of the world, and the things despised did God choose, and the things that are not, that the things that are He may make useless --29 that no flesh may glory before Him;
13 Who [is] wise and intelligent among you? let him shew out of the good behaviour his works in meekness of wisdom,
