Then they scoffed, "He’s just the carpenter’s son, and we know Mary, his mother, and his brothersJames, Joseph, Simon, and Judas. All his sisters live right here among us. Where did he learn all these things?"

The True Family of Jesus

As Jesus was speaking to the crowd, his mother and brothers stood outside, asking to speak to him.

Then Jesusmother and brothers came to see him. They stood outside and sent word for him to come out and talk with them. There was a crowd sitting around Jesus, and someone said, "Your mother and your brothers are outside asking for you."

Jesus replied, "Who is my mother? Who are my brothers?"Then he looked at those around him and said, "Look, these are my mother and brothers.Anyone who does God’s will is my brother and sister and mother."

Then Jesusmother and brothers came to see him, but they couldn’t get to him because of the crowd.

Da incredulidade à fé

Os irmãos de Jesus não criam nele inicialmente. Mas após a ressurreição, estavam entre os discípulos em oração.

and Jesusbrothers said to him, "Leave here and go to Judea, where your followers can see your miracles! You can’t become famous if you hide like this! If you can do such wonderful things, show yourself to the world!" For even his brothers didn’t believe in him.

"Don’t cling to me," Jesus said, "for I haven’t yet ascended to the Father. But go find my brothers and tell them, I am ascending to my Father and your Father, to my God and your God."

They all met together and were constantly united in prayer, along with Mary the mother of Jesus, several other women, and the brothers of Jesus.

The only other apostle I met at that time was James, the Lord’s brother.

God, for whom and through whom everything was made, chose to bring many children into glory. And it was only right that he should make Jesus, through his suffering, a perfect leader, fit to bring them into their salvation.

So now Jesus and the ones he makes holy have the same Father. That is why Jesus is not ashamed to call them his brothers and sisters.
