A lei de Deus é expressão do seu caráter e amor. Do Sinai ao Sermão do Monte, a lei orienta, protege e revela o padrão santo de Deus para a vida humana.
O propósito da lei
A lei de Deus revela o pecado e nos conduz a Cristo. Pela lei é que temos consciência do que é justo e do que é errado.
For no one is made right before God by doing what the law requires. The law only helps us recognize what sin really is.
So then, should we sin because we’re not under law, but under grace? Of course not!
Some say, "I’m free to do anything"—but not everything is appropriate! "I’m free to do anything"—but not everything is constructive!
For the whole law is summed up in this one command, "You shall love your neighbor as yourself."
But the Spirit produces fruit such as love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, trust, gentleness, self-control—and there’s no law against these kinds of things!
Carry each other’s burdens, for in this way you fulfill the law of Christ.
Amar e obedecer
O maior mandamento é amar a Deus e ao próximo. Toda a lei se resume nestes dois mandamentos, que são o fundamento de tudo.
The second is ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ There’s no more important commandment than these."
This is my command: love one another as I have loved you.
Treat others the way you want them to treat you. This sums up the law and the prophets.
Don’t owe anybody anything, except love for one another—for those who love their neighbor have kept the law.
This is the command he gave to us: those who love God love their brothers and sisters too.
Dear friends, if we’re reassured we’re not in the wrong, we can have confidence before God. We’ll receive from him whatever we ask him for, because we follow his commands and do what pleases him.
Bênçãos da obediência à lei
Se andardes nos meus mandamentos, vivereis. A obediência à lei de Deus traz vida, paz e prosperidade espiritual.
If you truly obey what the Lord your God tells you, and carefully follow all his commandments that I’m giving you today, then the Lord your God will place you high above all the nations of the earth.
I’m telling you today to love the Lord your God, to follow his ways, and to keep his commandments, rules, and regulations, so you can live and grow in number, and so the Lord your God may bless you in the country that you are entering and will own.
People of Israel, what does the Lord your God want from you? He wants you to respect the Lord your God by following all his ways. He wants you to love him. He wants you to worship the Lord your God with all your mind and with all your being, He wants you to keep the commandments and regulations of the Lord that I am giving you today for your own good.
The commands I’m giving you today must stay in your minds. You are to explain them carefully to your children and talk about them when you’re at home and when you’re traveling, when you lie down and when you get up.
Keep on reminding the people about the law. Meditate on it day and night, so you can be sure to do what it requires. Then you will be successful and prosper in what you do.
But make sure you keep the commandments and the law as Moses instructed you. Love the Lord your God, follow all his ways, keep his commandments, stay close to him, and serve him with your whole being."
I worship you sincerely; please don’t let me stray from your commands.
I have chosen to trust in you. I always pay attention to what you say.
But the Lord’s trustworthy love lasts for all eternity to those who accept him; his goodness to all generations,
to those who keep his agreement and who remember to follow his commandments.
Lei e graça
A lei veio para nos guiar; a graça veio para nos salvar. Em Cristo, cumprimos a lei pelo amor — o fruto do Espírito não tem lei contra si.
Fathers, don’t make your children mad, but look after them by disciplining them and instructing them about God.
The Lord has told you what is good, and what the Lord asks from you: to do what is right, to love kindness, and to walk in humility with your God.
Rather let justice flow like a river, and doing right like an ever-flowing stream.
Don’t join together with people who don’t believe—for what connection does goodness have with wickedness? What do light and darkness have in common?
