13 All who fear the Lord will hate evil.

Therefore, I hate pride and arrogance,

corruption and perverse speech.

10 You who love the Lord, hate evil!

He protects the lives of his godly people

and rescues them from the power of the wicked.

14 Turn away from evil and do good.

Search for peace, and work to maintain it.

133 Guide my steps by your word,

so I will not be overcome by evil.

16 Wash yourselves and be clean!

Get your sins out of my sight.

Give up your evil ways.

7 Don’t be impressed with your own wisdom.

Instead, fear the Lord and turn away from evil.

8 Then you will have healing for your body

and strength for your bones.

21 Don’t let evil conquer you, but conquer evil by doing good.

9 Don’t just pretend to love others. Really love them. Hate what is wrong. Hold tightly to what is good.

Paul’s Final Instructions

17 And now I make one more appeal, my dear brothers and sisters. Watch out for people who cause divisions and upset people’s faith by teaching things contrary to what you have been taught. Stay away from them.

5 The light shines in the darkness,

and the darkness can never extinguish it.*

15 See that no one pays back evil for evil, but always try to do good to each other and to all people.

21 but test everything that is said. Hold on to what is good. 22 Stay away from every kind of evil.

13 And don’t let us yield to temptation,*

but rescue us from the evil one.*

15 I’m not asking you to take them out of the world, but to keep them safe from the evil one.

7 The Lord keeps you from all harm

and watches over your life.

8 The Lord keeps watch over you as you come and go,

both now and forever.

18 Yes, and the Lord will deliver me from every evil attack and will bring me safely into his heavenly Kingdom. All glory to God forever and ever! Amen.

11 Put on all of God’s armor so that you will be able to stand firm against all strategies of the devil.

12 For we* are not fighting against flesh-and-blood enemies, but against evil rulers and authorities of the unseen world, against mighty powers in this dark world, and against evil spirits in the heavenly places.

26 And "don’t sin by letting anger control you."* Don’t let the sun go down while you are still angry, 27 for anger gives a foothold to the devil.

20 You intended to harm me, but God intended it all for good. He brought me to this position so I could save the lives of many people.

21 So get rid of all the filth and evil in your lives, and humbly accept the word God has planted in your hearts, for it has the power to save your souls.

9 But if we confess our sins to him, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all wickedness.

20 And then he added, "It is what comes from inside that defiles you.21 For from within, out of a person’s heart, come evil thoughts, sexual immorality, theft, murder,22 adultery, greed, wickedness, deceit, lustful desires, envy, slander, pride, and foolishness.23 All these vile things come from within; they are what defile you."

12 Hatred stirs up quarrels,

but love makes up for all offenses.

9 "This is what the Lord of Heaven’s Armies says: Judge fairly, and show mercy and kindness to one another. 10 Do not oppress widows, orphans, foreigners, and the poor. And do not scheme against each other.
