Messias
Deus prometeu enviar alguém para resgatar a humanidade, e toda a história antiga apontou para esse único momento. Quando Jesus caminhou pela terra, as profecias ganharam rosto, nome e endereço exatos.
Conhecer o Messias é entender o plano de Deus do começo ao fim. As palavras registradas nas Escrituras mostram quem Ele é, o que veio fazer e como cumpre cada promessa feita ao seu povo ao longo dos séculos.
Jesus é o Messias prometido — o Cristo, o Ungido de Deus. Séculos de profecias apontaram para Ele, e Pedro declarou: 'Tu és o Cristo, o Filho do Deus vivo.'
A confissão messiânica
Pedro confessou: Tu és o Cristo, o Filho do Deus vivo. Os apóstolos pregaram incansavelmente que Jesus é o Messias prometido.
He said vnto them, But whome say ye that I am? Then Simon Peter answered, and said, Thou art that Christ, the Sonne of the liuing God.(Matthew 16:15,16)
And dayly in the Temple, and from house to house they ceased not to teach, and preach Iesus Christ.(Acts 5:42)
Neuertheles, I obteined helpe of God, and continue vnto this day, witnessing both to small and to great, saying none other things, then those which the Prophets and Moses did say should come, To wit, that Christ should suffer, and that he should be the first that should rise from the dead, and should shew light vnto this people, and to the Gentiles.(Acts 26:22,23)
As profecias cumpridas
O Messias viria como Príncipe da Paz, Salvador e Senhor. Cada profecia se cumpriu em Jesus de Nazaré, nascido em Belém.
For vnto vs a childe is borne, and vnto vs a Sonne is giuen: and the gouernement is vpon his shoulder, and he shall call his name Wonderfull, Counseller, The mightie God, The euerlasting Father, The prince of peace,(Isaiah 9:6)
That is, that vnto you is borne this day in the citie of Dauid, a Sauiour, which is Christ the Lord.(Luke 2:11)
Blessed and holy is hee, that hath part in the first resurrection: for on such the second death hath no power: but they shalbe the Priests of God and of Christ, and shall reigne with him a thousand yeere.(Revelation 20:6)
Therefore be ye also ready: for in the houre that ye thinke not, will the Sonne of man come.(Matthew 24:44)
