After this, Jesus knowing that all things have now been accomplished, that the Writing may be fulfilled, says, "I thirst"; a vessel, therefore, was placed full of vinegar, and having filled a sponge with vinegar, and having put [it] around a hyssop stalk, they put [it] to His mouth; when, therefore, Jesus received the vinegar, He said, "It has been accomplished." And having bowed the head, gave up the spirit.
The soldiers, therefore, when they crucified Jesus, took His garments, and made four parts, to each soldier a part, also the coat, and the coat was seamless, from the top woven throughout; they said, therefore, to one another, "We may not tear it, but cast a lot for it, whose it will be"; that the Writing might be fulfilled, that is saying, "They divided My garments to themselves, and they cast a lot for My clothing"; the soldiers, therefore, indeed, did these things. And there stood by the cross of Jesus His mother, and His mother’s sister, Mary of Cleopas, and Mary the Magdalene; Jesus, therefore, having seen [His] mother, and the disciple standing by, whom He was loving, He says to His mother, "Woman, behold, your son"; afterward He says to the disciple, "Behold, your mother"; and from that hour the disciple took her to his own [home].
and when they came to the place that is called "[Place] of [the] Skull," there they crucified Him and the evildoers, one on the right hand and one on the left. And Jesus said, "Father, forgive them, for they have not known what they do"; and parting His garments they cast a lot. And the people were standing, looking on, and the rulers were also sneering with them, saying, "He saved others, let Him save Himself, if this be the Christ, the Chosen One of God." And the soldiers were also mocking Him, coming near and offering vinegar to Him, and saying, "If You are the King of the Jews, save Yourself." And there was also an inscription written over Him [[in letters of Greek, and Latin, and Hebrew]]: "THIS IS THE KING OF THE JEWS." And one of the evildoers who were hanged was slandering Him, saying, "If You are the Christ, save Yourself and us." And the other answering, was rebuking him, saying, "Do you not even fear God, that you are in the same judgment? And we indeed justly, for we are receiving back [things] worthy of what we did, but this One did nothing out of place"; and he said to Jesus, "Remember me, Lord, when You may come in Your kingdom"; and Jesus said to him, "Truly I say to you, today you will be with Me in Paradise."
And the sixth hour having come, darkness came over the whole land until the ninth hour, and at the ninth hour Jesus cried with a great voice, saying, "Eloi, Eloi, lamma sabachthani?" Which is, being interpreted, "My God, My God, why did You forsake Me?"
and behold, the veil of the temple was torn in two from top to bottom, and the earth quaked, and the rocks were split, and the tombs were opened, and many bodies of the holy ones who have fallen asleep, arose, and having come forth out of the tombs after His rising, they went into the holy city, and appeared to many. And the centurion, and those with him watching Jesus, having seen the earthquake, and the things that were done, were exceedingly afraid, saying, "Truly this was God’s Son."
And He is pierced for our transgressions, bruised for our iniquities, || The discipline of our peace [is] on Him, || And by His scourging we are healed. All of us, like sheep, have wandered, || Man has turned to his own way, || And YHWH has laid on Him the punishment of us all. It has been exacted, and He has answered, || And He does not open His mouth, || He is brought as a lamb to the slaughter, || And as a sheep before its shearers is silent, || So He does not open His mouth.
And You appoint Me to the dust of death, || For dogs have surrounded Me, || A company of evildoers has surrounded Me, || Piercing My hands and My feet. I count all My bones—they look expectingly, || They look on Me, They apportion My garments to themselves, || And they cause a lot to fall for My clothing.
All beholding Me mock at Me, || They make free with the lip—shake the head, "Roll to YHWH, He delivers Him, || He delivers Him, for He delighted in Him."
O amor que se entrega
Ninguém tem maior amor do que aquele que dá a vida pelos amigos. Deus prova seu amor em que Cristo morreu por nós quando ainda éramos pecadores.
greater love has no one than this, that anyone may lay down his life for his friends;
for God so loved the world that He gave the only begotten Son, that everyone who is believing in Him may not perish, but may have continuous life.
for if, being enemies, we have been reconciled to God through the death of His Son, much more, having been reconciled, we will be saved in His life.
in this we have known love, because He laid down His life for us, and we ought to lay down [our] lives for the brothers;
and He is [the] propitiation for our sins, and not only for ours, but also for the whole world,
and having been found in appearance as a man, He humbled Himself, having become obedient to death—even death of a cross,
Morte e ressurreição
Jesus morreu e ressuscitou, e a morte não mais tem domínio sobre Ele. Pelo batismo, participamos de sua morte e ressurreição.
knowing that Christ, having been raised up out of the dead, dies no more; death has no more lordship over Him; for in that He died, He died to sin once, and in that He lives, He lives to God;
Are you ignorant that we, as many as were immersed into Christ Jesus, were immersed into His death? We were buried together, then, with Him through the immersion into death, that even as Christ was raised up out of the dead through the glory of the Father, so we also might walk in newness of life.
and as it is reserved for men to die once, and after this—judgment, so also the Christ, having been offered once to bear the sins of many, will appear a second time, apart from a sin-offering, for salvation to those waiting for Him!
Men, Israelites! Hear these words: Jesus the Nazarene, a man approved of God among you by mighty works, and wonders, and signs, that God did through Him in the midst of you, according as also you yourselves have known, this One, by the determinate counsel and foreknowledge of God, being given out, having been taken by lawless hands, having been crucified—you slew, whom God raised up, having loosed the travails of death, because it was not possible for Him to be held by it;
I AM the good shepherd; the good shepherd lays His life down for the sheep;
for as often as you may eat this bread, and may drink this cup, you show forth the death of the LORD—until He may come;
