13 I have the strength to face all conditions by the power that Christ gives me.

29 He strengthens those who are weak and tired.

30 Even those who are young grow weak;

young people can fall exhausted.

31 But those who trust in the Lord for help

will find their strength renewed.

They will rise on wings like eagles;

they will run and not get weary;

they will walk and not grow weak.

10 *Jerusalem rejoices because of what the Lord has done.

She is like a bride dressed for her wedding.

God has clothed her with salvation and victory.

13 because God is always at work in you to make you willing and able to obey his own purpose.

13 Of course, my friends, I really do not* think that I have already won it; the one thing I do, however, is to forget what is behind me and do my best to reach what is ahead. 14 So I run straight toward the goal in order to win the prize, which is God’s call through Christ Jesus to the life above.

24 Surely you know that many runners take part in a race, but only one of them wins the prize. Run, then, in such a way as to win the prize. 25 *Every athlete in training submits to strict discipline, in order to be crowned with a wreath that will not last; but we do it for one that will last forever. 26 That is why I run straight for the finish line; that is why I am like a boxer who does not waste his punches. 27 I harden my body with blows and bring it under complete control, to keep myself from being disqualified after having called others to the contest.

God Our Father

1 As for us, we have this large crowd of witnesses around us. So then, let us rid ourselves of everything that gets in the way, and of the sin which holds on to us so tightly, and let us run with determination the race that lies before us. 2 Let us keep our eyes fixed on Jesus, on whom our faith depends from beginning to end. He did not give up because of the cross! On the contrary, because of the joy that was waiting for him, he thought nothing of the disgrace of dying on the cross, and he is now seated at the right side of God’s throne.

3 Think of what he went through; how he put up with so much hatred from sinners! So do not let yourselves become discouraged and give up.

23 Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as though you were working for the Lord and not for people.

11 I alone know the plans I have for you, plans to bring you prosperity and not disaster, plans to bring about the future you hope for.*

13 And I will do whatever you ask for in my name, so that the Father’s glory will be shown through the Son. 14 If you ask me* for anything in my name, I will do it.

19 *Go, then, to all peoples everywhere and make them my disciples: baptize them in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, 20 and teach them to obey everything I have commanded you. And I will be with you always, to the end of the age."

6 Be determined and confident. Do not be afraid of them. Your God, the Lord himself, will be with you. He will not fail you or abandon you."

10 Work hard at whatever you do, because there will be no action, no thought, no knowledge, no wisdom in the world of the dead—and that is where you are going.

7 A thousand may fall dead beside you,

ten thousand all around you,

but you will not be harmed.

29 "So don’t be all upset, always concerned about what you will eat and drink. 30 (For the pagans of this world are always concerned about all these things.) Your Father knows that you need these things.

10 While we were with you, we used to tell you, "Whoever refuses to work is not allowed to eat."

11 We say this because we hear that there are some people among you who live lazy lives and who do nothing except meddle in other people’s business. 12 In the name of the Lord Jesus Christ we command these people and warn them to lead orderly lives and work to earn their own living.

13 But you, friends, must not become tired of doing good.
