4 Nicodemus *said to Him, "How can a person be born when he is old? He cannot enter his mother’s womb a second time and be born, can he?" 5 Jesus answered, "Truly, truly, I say to you, unless someone is born of water and the Spirit, he cannot enter the kingdom of God.6 That which has been born of the flesh is flesh, and that which has been born of the Spirit is spirit.7 Do not be amazed that I said to you, ‘You must be born *again.’8 The wind blows where it wishes, and you hear the sound of it, but you do not know where it is coming from and where it is going; so is everyone who has been born of the Spirit."

5 Jesus answered, "Truly, truly, I say to you, unless someone is born of water and the Spirit, he cannot enter the kingdom of God.6 That which has been born of the flesh is flesh, and that which has been born of the Spirit is spirit.7 Do not be amazed that I said to you, ‘You must be born *again.’

15 Truly I say to you, whoever does not receive the kingdom of God like a child will not enter it at all."

1 At that *time the disciples came to Jesus and said, "Who then is greatest in the kingdom of heaven?" 2 And He called a child to Himself and set him among them, 3 and said, "Truly I say to you, unless you *change and become like children, you will not enter the kingdom of heaven.4 So whoever will humble himself like this child, he is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven.

17 Therefore if anyone is in Christ, this person is a new *creation; the old things passed away; behold, new things have come.

4 Therefore we have been buried with Him through baptism into death, so that, just as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, so we too may walk in newness of life. 5 For if we have become *united with Him in the likeness of His death, certainly we shall also be *in the likeness of His resurrection, 6 knowing this, that our old *self was crucified with Him, in order that our body of sin might be *done away with, so that we would no longer be slaves to sin; 7 for the one who has died is *freed from sin.

11 So you too, consider yourselves to be dead to sin, but alive to God in Christ Jesus.

20 I have been crucified with Christ; and it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and *the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself up for me.

22 that, in reference to your former way of life, you are to rid yourselves of the old *self, which is being corrupted in accordance with the lusts of deceit, 23 and that you are to be renewed in the spirit of your minds, 24 and to put on the new *self, which *in the likeness of God has been created in righteousness and holiness of the truth.

9 *Do not lie to one another, since you stripped off the old *self with its evil practices, 10 and have put on the new self, which is being *renewed to a true knowledge according to the image of the One who created it— 11 a renewal in which there is no distinction between Greek and Jew, circumcised and uncircumcised, *barbarian, *Scythian, slave, and free, but Christ is all, and in all.

12 But *as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, to those who *believe in His name, 13 who were *born, not of *blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of a man, but of God.

3 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who according to His great mercy has caused us to be born again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, 4 to obtain an inheritance which is imperishable, undefiled, and will not fade away, reserved in heaven for you,

23 for you have been born again not of seed which is perishable, but imperishable, that is, through the living and enduring word of God.

2 and like newborn babies, long for the *pure *milk of the word, so that by it you may grow *in respect to salvation, 3 if you have tasted *the kindness of the Lord.

Children of God Love One Another

1 See *how great a love the Father has given us, that we would be called children of God; and in fact we are. For this reason the world does not know us: because it did not know Him. 2 Beloved, now we are children of God, and it has not appeared as yet what we will be. We know that when He appears, we will be like Him, because we will see Him just as He is.

4 But when the fullness of the time came, God sent His Son, born of a woman, born under *the Law, 5 so that He might redeem those who were under *the Law, that we might receive the adoption as sons and daughters.

19 And I will give them one heart, and put a new spirit within *them. And I will remove the heart of stone from their flesh and give them a heart of flesh, 20 so that they may walk in My statutes, and keep My ordinances and do them. Then they will be My people, and I shall be their God.

4 But God, being rich in mercy, because of His great love with which He loved us, 5 even when we were dead *in our wrongdoings, made us alive together *with Christ (by grace you have been saved),
