Orgulho
O orgulho é um dos pecados mais condenados na Bíblia. Deus resiste aos soberbos, mas dá graça aos humildes. A humildade é o caminho da honra verdadeira.
Deus resiste ao soberbo
A soberba precede a ruína e o orgulho antecede a queda. Deus abomina o coração altivo e promete humilhar quem se exalta.
Humildade como caminho
Humilhai-vos diante do Senhor e Ele vos exaltará. A grandeza no Reino vem pelo serviço humilde, não pela autopromoção.
6 and greater grace he does give, wherefore he says, 'God against proud ones does set Himself up, and to lowly ones He does give grace?'
10 be made low before the Lord, and He shall exalt you.
9 And let the brother who is low rejoice in his exaltation,10 and the rich in his becoming low, because as a flower of grass he shall pass away;
5 In like manner, you younger, be subject to elders, and all to one another subjecting yourselves; with humble-mindedness clothe yourselves, because God the proud does resist, but to the humble He does give grace;6 be humbled, then, under the powerful hand of God, that you He may exalt in good time,7 all your care having cast upon Him, because He cares for you.
11 because every one who is exalting himself shall be humbled, and he who is humbling himself shall be exalted.'
3 nothing in rivalry or vain-glory, but in humility of mind one another counting more excellent than yourselves --4 each not to your own look you, but each also to the things of others.5 For, let this mind be in you that is also in Christ Jesus,
Os perigos do orgulho
O orgulho cega, gera contendas e afasta de Deus. A Escritura adverte contra a soberba da vida e a vã glória mundana.
16 because all that is in the world -- the desire of the flesh, and the desire of the eyes, and the ostentation of the life -- is not of the Father, but of the world,
12 so that he who is thinking to stand -- let him observe, lest he fall.
3 and if I give away to feed others all my goods, and if I give up my body that I may be burned, and have not love, I am profited nothing.
28 and the base things of the world, and the things despised did God choose, and the things that are not, that the things that are He may make useless --29 that no flesh may glory before Him;
17 and he who is boasting -- in the Lord let him boast;18 for not he who is commending himself is approved, but he whom the Lord does commend.
20 And he said -- 'That which is coming out from the man, that does defile the man;21 for from within, out of the heart of men, the evil reasonings do come forth, adulteries, whoredoms, murders,22 thefts, covetous desires, wickedness, deceit, arrogance, an evil eye, evil speaking, pride, foolishness;23 all these evils do come forth from within, and they defile the man.'
17 Those rich in the present age charge you not to be high-minded, nor to hope in the uncertainty of riches, but in the living God, who is giving to us all things richly for enjoyment; --
O olhar de Deus
O Senhor não olha como o homem. Ele vê o coração e se agrada dos quebrantados de espírito e dos que tremem diante da sua Palavra.
16 of the same mind one toward another, not minding the high things, but with the lowly going along; become not wise in your own conceit;
22 And the fruit of the Spirit is: Love, joy, peace, long-suffering, kindness, goodness, faith,23 meekness, temperance: against such there is no law;
