Orgulho
O orgulho é um dos pecados mais condenados na Bíblia. Deus resiste aos soberbos, mas dá graça aos humildes. A humildade é o caminho da honra verdadeira.
Deus resiste ao soberbo
A soberba precede a ruína e o orgulho antecede a queda. Deus abomina o coração altivo e promete humilhar quem se exalta.
18 Pride [goes] before destruction, And a haughty spirit before a fall.
5 Everyone who is proud in heart is disgusting to Yahweh: [Though] hand [join] in hand, he will not be unpunished.
25 There is a way which seems right to a man, But its end are the ways of death.

Humildade como caminho
Humilhai-vos diante do Senhor e Ele vos exaltará. A grandeza no Reino vem pelo serviço humilde, não pela autopromoção.
6 But he gives more grace. Therefore [the Scripture] says, God resists the proud, but gives grace to the humble.
10 Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and he will exalt you{}.
9 But let the brother who is lowly glory in his high [position];10 and the rich, in his low [position]: because as the flower of the grass he will pass away.
5 Likewise, you{} younger, be subject to the elder. Yes, all of you{} gird yourselves with humility, to serve one another: for God resists the proud, but gives grace to the humble.6 Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you{} in due time;7 casting all your{} anxiety on him, because he cares for you{}.

Os perigos do orgulho
O orgulho cega, gera contendas e afasta de Deus. A Escritura adverte contra a soberba da vida e a vã glória mundana.
16 For all that is in the world, the desire of the flesh and the desire of the eyes and the vain glory of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world.
12 Therefore let him who thinks he stands take heed lest he fall.
3 And if I bestow all my goods to feed [the poor], and if I deliver up my body that I may boast, but do not have love, it profits me nothing.
28 and the base things of the world, and the things that are despised, God chose, the things that are not, that he might bring to nothing the things that are:29 that no flesh should glory before God.
17 But he who glories, let him glory in the Lord.18 For [it is] not he who commends himself [who] is approved, but whom the Lord commends.
20 And he said, That which proceeds out of the man, that defiles the man.21 For from inside, out of the heart of men, evil thoughts proceed, fornications, thefts, murders, adulteries,22 greed, wickednesses, deceit, sexual immorality, an evil eye, railing, pride, foolishness:23 all these evil things proceed from inside, and defile the man.

4 The reward of humility [and] the fear of Yahweh [Is] riches, and honor, and life.
17 Charge those who are rich in this present age, not to be highminded, nor have their hope set on the uncertainty of riches, but on God, who gives us richly all things to enjoy;
O olhar de Deus
O Senhor não olha como o homem. Ele vê o coração e se agrada dos quebrantados de espírito e dos que tremem diante da sua Palavra.
7 But Yahweh said to Samuel, Don't look on his countenance, or on the height of his stature; because I have rejected him: for [it is] not [a matter of] what man sees; for man looks on the outward appearance, but Yahweh looks on the heart.
3 Don't talk anymore so exceedingly proudly; Don't let arrogance come out of your{} mouth; For Yahweh is a God of knowledge, And by him actions are weighed.
2 For all these things my hand has made, and [so] all these things had come to be, says Yahweh: but to this man I will look, even to him who is poor and of a contrite spirit, and who trembles at my word.
37 Now I, Nebuchadnezzar, praise and extol and honor the King of heaven; for all his works are truth, and his ways justice; and those who walk in pride he is able to abase.
11 And the king of Israel answered and said, Tell him, Don't let him who girds on [his armor] boast himself as he who puts it off.
16 Be of the same mind one toward another. Don't set your{} mind on high things, but condescend to things that are lowly. Don't be wise in your{} own conceits.
22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, long-suffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness,23 meekness, self-control; against such there is no law.
