Promessas
"Now my time has come to die. Every one of you knows in his heart and soul that the Lord your God has given you all the good things that he promised. Every promise he made has been kept; not one has failed.
Remember that the Lord your God is the only God and that he is faithful. He will keep his covenant and show his constant love to a thousand generations of those who love him and obey his commands,
He who calls you will do it, because he is faithful.
Let us hold on firmly to the hope we profess, because we can trust God to keep his promise.
In this way he has given us the very great and precious gifts he promised, so that by means of these gifts you may escape from the destructive lust that is in the world, and may come to share the divine nature.
Promessas de cuidado e proteção
Deus prometeu estar conosco nas águas e no fogo, fortalecer-nos e nos segurar com a destra da sua justiça. Nada nos separará do seu amor.
Do not be afraid—I am with you!
I am your God—let nothing terrify you!
I will make you strong and help you;
I will protect you and save you.
When you pass through deep waters, I will be with you;
your troubles will not overwhelm you.
When you pass through fire, you will not be burned;
the hard trials that come will not hurt you.
But those who trust in the Lord for help
will find their strength renewed.
They will rise on wings like eagles;
they will run and not get weary;
they will walk and not grow weak.
I alone know the plans I have for you, plans to bring you prosperity and not disaster, plans to bring about the future you hope for.
Promessas de salvação e vida eterna
A promessa suprema de Deus é a vida eterna em Cristo. Quem crê no Filho tem a vida eterna e a certeza da ressurreição.
For God loved the world so much that he gave his only Son, so that everyone who believes in him may not die but have eternal life.
Jesus said to her, "I am the resurrection and the life. Those who believe in me will live, even though they die; and those who live and believe in me will never die. Do you believe this?"
Listen! I stand at the door and knock; if any hear my voice and open the door, I will come into their house and eat with them, and they will eat with me.
Those who win the victory will be clothed like this in white, and I will not remove their names from the book of the living. In the presence of my Father and of his angels I will declare openly that they belong to me.
For this reason Christ is the one who arranges a new covenant, so that those who have been called by God may receive the eternal blessings that God has promised. This can be done because there has been a death which sets people free from the wrongs they did while the first covenant was in effect.
My dear friends, we are now God’s children, but it is not yet clear what we shall become. But we know that when Christ appears, we shall be like him, because we shall see him as he really is. Everyone who has this hope in Christ keeps himself pure, just as Christ is pure.
Aliança inabalável
Desde a aliança com Noé até a nova aliança em Cristo, Deus sempre cumpre sua Palavra. Ele nos restaura e nos aperfeiçoa pela graça.
With these words I make my covenant with you: I promise that never again will all living beings be destroyed by a flood; never again will a flood destroy the earth.
I am putting my bow in the clouds. It will be the sign of my covenant with the world.
But now, Jesus has been given priestly work which is superior to theirs, just as the covenant which he arranged between God and his people is a better one, because it is based on promises of better things.
But after you have suffered for a little while, the God of all grace, who calls you to share his eternal glory in union with Christ, will himself perfect you and give you firmness, strength, and a sure foundation.
The Lord is not slow to do what he has promised, as some think. Instead, he is patient with you, because he does not want anyone to be destroyed, but wants all to turn away from their sins.
All these promises are made to us, my dear friends. So then, let us purify ourselves from everything that makes body or soul unclean, and let us be completely holy by living in awe of God.
But the scripture says that the whole world is under the power of sin; and so the gift which is promised on the basis of faith in Jesus Christ is given to those who believe.
Ask, Seek, Knock
"Ask, and you will receive; seek, and you will find; knock, and the door will be opened to you.
Physical exercise has some value, but spiritual exercise is valuable in every way, because it promises life both for the present and for the future.
