18 "Listen," he said, "we’re going up to Jerusalem, where the Son of Man*will be betrayed to the leading priests and the teachers of religious law. They will sentence him to die.19 Then they will hand him over to the Romans*to be mocked, flogged with a whip, and crucified. But on the third day he will be raised from the dead."

28 They stripped him and put a scarlet robe on him. 29 They wove thorn branches into a crown and put it on his head, and they placed a reed stick in his right hand as a scepter. Then they knelt before him in mockery and taunted, "Hail! King of the Jews!"

7 But if we are living in the light, as God is in the light, then we have fellowship with each other, and the blood of Jesus, his Son, cleanses us from all sin.

3 I passed on to you what was most important and what had also been passed on to me. Christ died for our sins, just as the Scriptures said. 4 He was buried, and he was raised from the dead on the third day, just as the Scriptures said.

2 Live a life filled with love, following the example of Christ. He loved us* and offered himself as a sacrifice for us, a pleasing aroma to God.

14 He gave his life to free us from every kind of sin, to cleanse us, and to make us his very own people, totally committed to doing good deeds.

13 Do not let any part of your body become an instrument of evil to serve sin. Instead, give yourselves completely to God, for you were dead, but now you have new life. So use your whole body as an instrument to do what is right for the glory of God.

24 If you try to hang on to your life, you will lose it. But if you give up your life for my sake, you will save it.

9 Honor the Lord with your wealth

and with the best part of everything you produce.

3 The Lord is more pleased when we do what is right and just

than when we offer him sacrifices.

13 Then he added, "Now go and learn the meaning of this Scripture: ‘I want you to show mercy, not offer sacrifices.’*For I have come to call not those who think they are righteous, but those who know they are sinners."

9 But I will offer sacrifices to you with songs of praise,

and I will fulfill all my vows.

For my salvation comes from the Lord alone."

24 But my life is worth nothing to me unless I use it for finishing the work assigned me by the Lord Jesus—the work of telling others the Good News about the wonderful grace of God.
